“Come on Astrid, it’s easy. Find yourself a male guard, show him a little attention, just enough to make him feel wanted and then.. He’s yours.” Ivy spoke with a simple shrug of her shoulders, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

Astrid felt her cheeks heat up as she gave an awkward laugh. “Yeah, I don’t think that would work out so great for me. I’m not great at manipulating people-- I’m not even sure if something I want to be good at. I mean, you pull it off great and everything but I don’t know ... I haven’t really show any males any attention since Ben.” 

A wide smile crossed the auburn haired young woman’s face as she peered up at her best friend, eyes sparkling. “You know me, I’m not really one for making an entrance.” The statement was a lie of course, the real reason was one that Ivy would rather keep from Astrid. Surely hearing that she had been kept in solitude after torturing a male into an inch of his life wouldn’t be the best thing to restart their friendship. “It’s actually.. Not been too bad.” A slight smile crossed her face as she sat up, shrugging her shoulders. “I already have most of the guards wrapped around my little finger, hence why I look so fabulous.” Ivy laughed, hands gesturing to the outfit she wore, a new one that she had received that day.

A scoff left the brunette’s lips as she shook her head laughing at her friend. “Sure, whatever you say babe.” Astrid replied smirking, looking at the auburn haired female with fondness. She smiled nodding. “That’s good.” The witch found herself laughing as she continued. “Of course you have. You really do need to share your secrets.” 

      “You really shouldn’t be eavesdropping.” Tyler warned, eyes scanning over to the individual beside him, noticing how they attempted to see what he was doing. He had felt their presence for a number of minutes, and it had made him wonder, should he confront them? Being realistic, he knew he had no choice. “You should know better.”

Astrid rolled her eyes sighing at the male. “There’s nothing better to do around here.”

He knew that he was dealing with a witch, someone like Sophia, and knew that he would have to try and make this as simple as possible for her to understand. He could ask questions later, the woman in front of him was more important. “No, I’m gonna need you to make the call while I try to help her the best I can. Look, you can do this okay?” He replied calmly as he passed her back the phone. “I need you to press the nine button three times and then the green one with a picture on it.”

Her eyes widened slowly as she bit down on her lip panicking she’d do something wrong but she didn’t have much of a choice. Taking the phone back she took a deep breath before looking back down at the device and following the male’s instructions. A strange noise started coming from it after she pressed the green button. “Oh gosh, it’s making a noise... Did I do something wrong?” 

He rolled his eyes once again, huffing as he did. He wanted her to see the reality of her actions, and maybe deep down, his feelings were somewhat involved in it. He did not want her in danger, especially one that was so present at this time. “You’re being ridiculous, no one accepts dying, you are supposed to fight to stay alive.”

It was now Astrid’s turn to roll her eyes and huff at the male. “Must you turn everything into a debate?” She raised her brow at him before tearing her gaze away, a soft sigh slipping her lips. “It’s not ridiculous, plenty people accept it Tyler. Not everyone has fight left within them.”

Ivy didn’t know how long it had been since she had seen her best friend, yet as soon as she had found out that she had also been taken prisoner, the auburn haired young woman had managed to worm her way out of the room she had been cooped up in. Letting herself into Astrid’s room, a smile crossed Ivy’s painted red lips. “Hey bestie,” She greeted with a wide smile before moving over the room and plopping herself down beside the other girl on her bed. “How’s prison life treating you?” Ivy asked with a slight smirk tugging at her lips.

The brunette wasn’t expecting her friend so when the door was pushed open she found herself huffing as she turned to face the intruder, the frown soon fell from her face as she saw her best friend standing there. “Ivy!” She exclaimed happily. “I had no idea you were here.” Astrid stated as she took a seat opposite the auburn haired witch. “Ergh, don’t get me started. How about you?” 

“Small, black and it has numbers on what look like soft cushion things.” He attempted to explain with furrowed brows as he watched her. Though slow realization hit him as he realised what her lack of knowledge could mean. 

She nodded before running to his car. It took her a minute or two to find the device he was on about, if the situation hadn’t been a serious one she’d probably taken a little longer so she could look at it and try work out its purpose but as there was a woman’s well being depending on the small rectangular thing she rushed back with it as quickly as she could. “Here you go.” She replied shoving this brick like device into his hands, before kneeling down next to the woman once again. “Now what?” 

Now in his sister’s arms, he couldn’t hold back the tears and it was almost as if his emotional floodgates had just opened. It was as if all the history between the two of them had disappeared and he had his big sister there to protect him and make everything better. Though there wasn’t anything she could actually do to make things better. “She was pregnant, Ri. They still attacked her even though she was pregnant. How can someone do that?” He sobbed tearfully, not understanding the minds of his enemies. 

There was an ache in the brunette’s chest as she felt her brother’s tears seeping into her top. She just wished there was something she could do to make things better for him. Astrid shook her head not know what to say, guilt flooded her knowing she had a connection to the people that had caused such sadness in her brother. For the first time in a while she found herself actually wanting to cut the ties to them. “I’m so sorry Theo.” She whispered into his shoulder. “I wish there was something I could do to help.” The brunette found herself thinking. Could she do something to help? Being a death eater it was possible she could find out who had killed the female. She could make the person pay... 

He sighed, eyes rolling in response to her statement. It was all very brave, but he knew it was an act, no one was ever ready to die. He knew she had given up, and he had to make her see sense. “It was all very heart felt, but I’m no fool— you’re afraid.”

Astrid frowned thinking about the male’s reply. Maybe he was right, maybe deep down she was afraid. “I’m being serious Tyler. Okay, maybe I’m not totally unafraid -- maybe it’s more that I’ve just prepared myself for it and I’m okay with it, I guess when it comes there will be apart of me that will be afraid, that won’t want to die but I don’t want you to think I’m worried about it because I’m not.” 

His attention was split between the young injured woman and also coaching the other young woman through what was going to happen, he’d always been good at multitasking, after all it came with the job. What did manage to surprise him though, was her question. His head snapped back up with furrowed brows as he threw her the keys. “You know, what you make calls on? A communication device?”

She caught the keys, but still looked at the male clueless. They didn’t have time to explain what he was on about though. “What will it look like?” She asked decided it would be quick if he just told her what she had to look out for. 

It was not as entirely simple as she made out, and he often wondered if she feared things as much after her partners death. “It’s a little different, as we have the upper hand– I’m not the one imprisoned.”

The male had a point,and if she was honest she was glad they had the upper hand - it meant his and her brother’s safety was more ensured than her own, and if she was honest she didn’t think her fellow death eaters deserved to win the war. “True, but you of all people should know how quick things can turn. Either way, I’m not afraid of dying Tyler. I put myself in this position and I have to live with the consequences, I’ve come to terms with that.” 

He felt saddened, but it was mostly due to recent situations. Life brought him down, but it wasn’t something he’d tell her. “I’m just worried for you— danger is imminent.”

“You don’t have to worry about me Ty, I can take care of myself.” She told him not liking the idea of him stressing himself out over her. “Danger is imminent for us all, including you. There’s nothing we can do to avoid it.” 

He sighed a little, moving to sit down beside her with a slump of his shoulders. He was tired, life here had become draining, especially as he cared for the female beside him, yet she was on the wrong side, the wrong team. “I’m sure you will find a way to cope.” He replied, weakly smiling in response. He knew that she had her mind made up, that she was there to avenge her previous partner, and he knew he could not change that— he respected that she wanted to keep his memory alive. “How are you?” He spoke, trying to remove previous thoughts from his mind.

A small frown came to her face as she noticed the male’s appearance, he seemed like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. “I’m fine, though I’m not sure you could say the same. What’s up?”

When he had been assigned the person he was guarding for the evening, he exhaled a sigh, clearly he had not been paying enough attention to her recently, and he felt the guilt within him. Though he knows he should not feel guilt, it was not as if she was guilty for choosing the Death Eaters over him— plus there was nothing between them but friendship. He sat down beside the brunette and heaved a sigh, considering his next choice of words. “Looks like you’ve got me to deal with tonight.” He joked lightly, sighing as he did.

Astrid hadn’t had much in the way of company since she’d been taken prisoner, their had been people guarding her but no one that really tried to strike a conversation with her. So, when the male entered the room and took a set next to her she found herself smiling, grateful for the company. She sighed dramatically, “Oh no, however will I cope? What have I done to be punished like this.” She joked a grin breaking out on her face.
