I decided to rewrite TLK2 & give Kiara a female love interest for upcoming Pride month so here’s Nakinya’s official ref

She’s a very complex & tortured lioness who may or may not be inspired by Winter from wof — Kiara & Nakinya have a “toxic yuri” relationship at first but after everything settles & the Outsiders are welcomed into Simba’s pride, they develop a therapeutic relationship with each other where Kiara helps Nakinya work through her past trauma & internal struggles while Nakinya helps Kiara build more confidence within herself & teach her that protecting yourself isn’t something you should feel guilty abt

I remembered that cheetahs sometimes get so anxious in captivity that they’re assigned an “emotional support dog” to help them manage that anxiety & I was like; “yo… that’s a great character idea”

So here’s Nala! She’s incredibly anxious & was picked up as a young cub after getting trapped in a hunter’s trap — since then, she lived in a wildlife sanctuary with her regulation dog; Buck

He’s my very beautiful man, a Seawing/Silkwing hybrid from… not so beautiful beginnings but he turned out alright! Plus he knows how to pickpocket rlly well

His mom was a known criminal in Possibility, where he grew up, and his step-father left the family when he was young — he never knew his bio dad and his mother was VERY secretive, as she kept his SilkWing heritage from him his whole life

He’s a good guy tho, he just wants to help out wherever he can, and is very selfless, as he wants to be as opposite of his parents as possible… sometimes going a little too far

Thankfully, he manages to find out that he’s half SilkWing when he runs off with Umber and Sora, half because he’s worried about the pressure it will put on Umber (whom he became very good friends with at JMA) and half because he’s hoping to find out more abt himself (which he does! yippee!)

A little concept art for a project I’m working on (came to me last night at 9:30 pm on my nightly Pinterest scroll) - Kestrel is a Mountain Shelk, which is a species I made up that’s a hybrid of cats and birds (Kestrel is a hybrid of Mountain Lions and a Kestrel), & the species of wild cat & bird varies depending on their their environment (others in my project; Arctic Shelks, Island Shelks, & Savanna Shelks) I have a lot more stuff written down on my computer but that’s all I’ll say on them for now.

I’m still working out her story (might have something to do with an inter-clan war but I’m still not sure yet) but basically the logistics of the world are a mix of WoF and Warrior Cats, as the groups of Shelks are called “clans” and their world works like that in WoF and their names are all nature-based. Kestrel herself is an adopted member of the royal family in the Mountain Shelks’ clan & was taken in as a cub after the death of her biological parents
