my name is gigi, also known as ocelotlesbian, and i'm an artist who loves mitsuba from jibaku shounen hanako-kun!!! my pronouns are she/her, i'm tme & white, and i am an autistic autist with autism. and bpd and ocd probably but mostly autism (*Β΄ ο½ͺ `*)

a little about me if you care:
i am a bulgarian-american mitsuba-loving ocelot girl (in a play-pretend fursona way, not a therian way) currently located in florida. i enjoy just about any creative activity possible, but i'm only good at a few, and i like to incorporate mitsuba into all of them!!! it's no fun for me without mitsuba. speaking of mitsuba, i am psychically and emotionally bonded to mitsuba for life. mitsuba is a permanent part of my brain with her own special neurons and i am happy with this situation :) i'm very autistic in an otaku neet kind of way, as i am too disabled to be employed or spend much time offline, but i like it that way!! more time for mitsuba <3 i'm currently studying japanese and programming so i can further my path to mitsuba world domination. i am a weirdo freak as a mitsuba fan should be, and if you're the type of person to use "weirdo" or "freak" as an insult then you probably won't like me very much!!! this section is subject to change and was last updated 6/5/26 π

to me, "sousuke" is narratively equivalent to mitsuba's deadname, and by default i will always use "mitsuba," since, y'know, that's how the series itself does it. "sousuke" is used in one specific context and one specific context ONLY: to refer to a living, human version of mitsuba who is now dead. that's literally it. by default, "mitsuba" is the name you should use, since mitsuba isn't that person anymore, that person is dead. and the person mitsuba is *now* doesn't fucking want to be called sousuke. which. y'know. transfeminine allegory and allat. god i need to write my tfem mitsuba thesis already
I definitely get this perspective!! When I said I sometimes apply the name to both I meant more like. Back when I was actively into tbhk and hadnβt really considered the transfem angle for Mitsubaβs character. As I said, Iβve always been very aware that Sousuke only applies to the alive/original Mitsuba, again with that first tag I was referring more to like. Made up au scenarios in my brain. Not when I am properly engaging with the media. I see now how using Sousuke for the new Mitsuba could rub some people the wrong way, again thatβs why I try to avoid it. I hope my original tags didnβt sound dismissive, I 100% agree with your point, it seems like a lot of tbhk fans donβt know basic information about the characters

I will forever have a chip on my shoulder when it comes to the way people talk about anime and western anime fans. And not because there isn't misogyny, racism, and other harmful stereotypes in these shows, ofc there is.
the thing is we are never actually talking about any of that shit. we are never actually talking about the misogyny of shonen, or the reactionary elements present in many stories, or even like. the terrible labor practices in the industry.
We are talking about "degenerate weebs and their gooner slop waifus" or rather, we are talking about this imaginary person conjured up solely to appeal to deep seated hatred of people perceived as 'degenerate' even if it's not ok to say that word explicitly.
And from my perspective, there is an extremely strong undercurrent of transmisogyny driving most, if not all, of this sentiment. It's something I've experienced long before I realized I'm trans, and it's only grown more obvious to me the longer I exist as an openly trans woman. The 'weeb gooner pedophile' boogeyman is such an effective strawman for people to channel their transmisogyny into, it provides cover, plausible deniability, and allows them to redirect the conversation towards "so youre saying anime fans arent racist or misogynist??" no bitch I'm saying that transmisogyny, racism, and the fascist idea that "Degenerate Art is a real thing" all get mixed together on tumblr and out it spits shit like "bidoof's law"
