Head girls nightmare
Fred Weasley x reader
Summary-youâve just become head girl of Gryffindor house and Fred Weasley is causing more trouble than heâs worth why does he have to be so charming? ďżź
Ps- Iâm back from the dead and Iâm back with a Fred fic look at me go (also very dialogue heavy)
The first thing you did as Gryffindor Head Girl was take ten points from your own House.
âFive points from Gryffindor,â you announced sharply.
George blinked.
Fred looked positively delighted.
âAnd another five for laughing.â
âYou canât deduct points for laughing,â Fred protested, grinning as though this were the best thing heâd seen all week.
âI just did.â
Around the common room, several first years immediately buried their faces in homework, not wanting more points to be taken for simply breathing too loud ďżź
You closed your leather notebook with a snap.
âYou set off Portable Swamps.â
âTheyâre decorative.â
âTheyâre flooding the corridor outside the library.â
âTheyâre beautiful.â He paused
âMuch like youâ
âTheyâve tripped Professor Flitwick.âyou ignored his second comment. ďżź
âHe tripped while being in awe of their beautyâ
You pinched the bridge of your nose.
Merlin.
One day.
One.
Single.
Day.
That was how long youâd managed to hold the title of Head Girl before Fred Weasley had turned your life into a disaster.
âYouâll be cleaning it.â
Fred leaned casually against the fireplace.
âI think thatâs beneath my talents.â
âI donât.â
âYou wound me.â
âI was aiming lower.â
George actually snorted.
Fred laughed.
Actually laughed.
Like youâd just told the funniest joke heâd ever heard.
âYou know,â he said, âI think weâre going to get along brilliantly.â
âWe are not.â
âI disagree.â
âYou donât get to.â
âOh, I absolutely do.â
âNo.â
âYes.â
âNo.â
He smiled wider.
Merlin.
His smile was infuriating.
The kind that belonged on someone who had never experienced consequences in his entire life.
âYouâve got lovely eyes when youâre threatening me.â
You stared.
ââŚExcuse me?â
âI saidââ
âI heard what you said.â
âExcellent.â
âYouâve lost your mind.â
âA little.â
George muttered, âMore than a little.â
Fred ignored him completely.
âI just thought you should know.â
âYou thought wrong.â
He shrugged.
âIâll tell you again tomorrow.â
âYou wonât.â
âI absolutely will.â
âYouâll be in detention.â
âIâll flirt from detention.â
âYouâll lose House points.â
âWorth it.â
âYou are unbelievable.â
âIâve heard handsome before.â
âI said unbelievable.â
âI heard handsome.â
âYou need hearing aids.â
âI need your attention.â
âYou have it.â
âSplendid.â
âI wish you didnât.â
⸝
The staff meeting was worse.
Professor McGonagall sat at the head of the table, looking as composed as ever.
âAs Head Girl,â she said, âyour priority is maintaining order.â
You nodded.
âI understand.â
âParticularly regarding certain students.â
Every professor looked in exactly one direction.
Fred smiled innocently.
âI donât know why everyoneâs looking at me.â
Professor Snape looked as though he regretted surviving the last sixteen years.
Professor Sprout sighed.
Professor Flitwick rubbed his temples.
McGonagall simply folded her hands.
âMr. Weasley.â
âProfessor?â
âIf Miss Y/L/N tells you to stop.â
âI stop.â
You nearly laughed.
McGonagall raised one eyebrow.
Fred sighed dramatically.
ââŚEventually.â
⸝
It didnât improve.
Tuesdayâ
A hallway full of enchanted rubber chickens.
Wednesdayâ
Fireworks in History of Magic.
Thursdayâ
A charmed suit of armour that proposed marriage to passing students.
Fridayâ
An entire staircase that meowed.
You spent half your week apologising to professors.
The other half chasing Fred through the castle.
âYou cannot run away from disciplinary action!â
âI absolutely can!â
âIam head girl!â
âExactly!â
âI should be setting an example not chasing you!â
âYou are.â
âWHAT EXAMPLE?â
âCardio.â
⸝
By Saturday evening you were exhausted.
You escaped outside with a book, settling beneath the giant beech tree by the lake.
Finally.
Peace.
Silence.
Youâd barely managed two pages.
âSo.â
You closed your eyes.
ââŚGo away.â
Fred dropped onto the grass beside you anyway.
âI was hoping for a warmer welcome.â
âI wasnât.â
âYou look lovely today.â
âI look tired.â
âStill lovely.â
âIâve been yelling at you since Monday.â
âI noticed.â
âSo why are you here?â
He thought about it.
âI like talking to you.â
âYou canât possibly.â
âI can.â
âI mostly insult you.â
âTheyâre creative.â
âTheyâre not meant to be compliments.â
âI take them as affection.â
âYou shouldnât.â
âI will.â
You glared.
He grinned.
Merlin.
That grin.
âYou know,â he said casually, âIâve never met anyone who glares quite like you.â
âIâve never met anyone who deserved it more.â
âI feel special.â
âYou shouldnât.â
âI do.â
He reached over and quietly plucked a leaf from your hair.
The movement was so unexpected that you froze.
âThere.â
His voice was unexpectedly softer.
âYou had a leaf.â
You blinked.
ââŚThank you.â
His grin returned instantly.
âYouâre welcome.â
âI still donât like you.â
âI know.â
âI probably never will.â
âI know.â
âYou arenât changing my mind.â
âWeâll see.â
âThere is no âwe.ââ
âThere will be.â
âYou are incredibly arrogant.â
âI prefer optimistic.â
âYou should prefer realistic.â
He leaned back on the grass.
âIâve got all year.â
You looked at him.
He wasnât joking.
Not even slightly.
He genuinely looked as though he had every intention of wearing you down one conversation at a time.
âYouâll give up.â
âNo.â
âIâll keep giving you detention.â
âIâll keep showing up.â
âIâll ignore you.â
âIâll talk enough for both of us.â
âYou are impossible.â
âSo people keep telling me.â
A comfortable silence settled between you.
It irritated you.
Silence wasnât supposed to be comfortable with Fred Weasley.
After several minutes he stood.
âIâll let you read.â
You frowned.
ââŚThatâs it?â
âThought Iâd surprise you.â
âYou actually are leaving?â
âSee?â
He smiled over his shoulder.
âIâm already improving your opinion of me.â
âIt isnât.â
âIt moved half a percent.â
âIt moved backwards.â
âIâll make it up tomorrow.â
He winked.
Then walked away.
You watched him disappear across the lawn.
Only after he was gone did you realise something.
For the first time all weekâŚ
He hadnât caused any trouble.
And somehowâ
Somehowâ
You almost missed hearing him talking.
ââŚMerlin,â you muttered to yourself.
âThis is going to be a very long year.â
And somehow you think you might find yourself enjoying it ďżź
ââ˘
Hope Yall like this itâs very dialogue heavy but I wanted to try something different x
