An interesting excerpt from J.E. McTeer’s memoir in which a local spiritual worker expresses concern over the influence that the moon landing will have on the spiritual evolution of the world - considering the role of people associated with NASA in the development of psychic studies in the later half of the 20th century (particularly Apollo astronaut Edgar Mitchell in founding the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) and supporting the development of the SRI programs in applied psychism - and NASA physicist Tom Campbell who worked closely with the The Monroe Institute) there’s some nice mytho-poetic resonance here: “Dr. Eagle (P.H. Washington) came into prominence as a witch doctor after the death of Dr. Buzzard. He is dead now, but for many years he was very much in the limelight as a news item. Whenever anything distressed him, he would call me in to help him solve the problem. One day Dr. Eagle called me on the telephone. His voice was very agitated, "Can you come to my house? I’ve got to see you,” he said. “Yes, I’ll be there,” I answered. On arriving I found him waiting on the porch. “Let’s go to my room where we can talk privately.” He came right to the point. “You know the moon controls the spirits and makes the tide rise and fall; people go crazy on the full moon, and that’s when the magic is the strongest. Now I hear that people have landed on the moon. I saw the pictures on TV, but I still think it was a trick camera they used. Man don’t dare land on the moon with the spirits. What do you think?” I thought hard. This was truly a disturbing happening, for the moon was the abode of the astral spirits whom the witch doctor called for aid. If man desecrated it by his presence, what impact would it have on the witch doctor’s power to invoke this aid? I did not want to lose face with Dr. Eagle, for I was a member of his fraternity. I said, “I saw the pictures too, let’s just see what happens. Time will tell.” Dr. Eagle said, “I don’t think they landed, but if they did…watch out. Their minds can’t stand it. They are in deep trouble from now on.” Yes, the astronauts landed on the moon, and I cannot help but think how prophetic Dr. Eagle’s prediction was. Practically every one who participated in the landing underwent a change of personality. There is nothing more frightening to the human mind than the unknown.“ - J.E. The 7 Keys To Power: The Master’s Book of Profound Esoteric Law by Lewis de Claremont. This ad is from 1940, but this book has been reprinted as recently as 1997 and is available as an e-book. (“Order now and get a Mystic Power Coin Of Luck free!”) This is a revision of the 1938 work.
The ad doesn’t really say what direction the book is coming from; one review on Amazon said it was from a Christian stance (and the advertisement itself is very similar to the style used by the Knights of Columbus and the Rosicrucians in their ads) but this site which transcribed another of de Claremont’s works, The Ancient Book Of Formulas, implies there’s more of an occult basis to the power he speaks of.

Previous to the above photograph being taken, Santa Marta has always been portrayed as a white woman dressed as a typical saint with a dragon instead of snakes.
The photograph, which was widely distributed across Europe, and into both West Africa and the Caribbean, was actually of a Roma (offensively referred to as “G*psy” at the time) woman or at least someone pretending to be a Roma woman.
This is an excellent example of real, cross-cultural syncretism.
Santa Marta la Dominadora, at least in Afro-Caribbean religions, rules over a type of trabajo (working) called amarres. Amarres are dominating love spells, spells that bind someone to love another person against their will. They tend to be the kind of trabajos and obras most requested of professional readers, rootworkers, and bruj@s. Personally, they are taboo to me so I don’t go anywhere near them, but I respect people who can make that happen.

Writers such as James Webb, who wrote a series of books looking at the historic influence of occult “irrationalism,” or Joe Fisher, whose work on mediumship explores what psychical researchers have often termed “spirit obsession,” provide us with very human portraits highlighting the perilous nature of our quest for the source of consciousness. If you are not aware of these two authors, whose struggle to understand the human condition led them both down very dark roads, Gary Lachman, writing for Fortean Times, provides an excellent overview of James Webb, and Loren Coleman, writing for The Anomalist, provides a very nice overview of Joe Fisher.

Using the examples above, with us at a single point in the box, obtaining or manipulating contemporaneous information elsewhere or even into the future or past, it could be that we could examine time and space purely from within and yet somehow jump to another point in time and space in that “box”. But we may not see the whole picture, just glimpses and this may be what sometimes happens when we apprehend or influence information, objects or events. This may imply an approach that still is radical in that it defies conventional scientific endeavor, but it may still be explained within the conventional fabric of laws that may require modification but not total revamping. I call this the “mimimalistic parapsychology” approach. (V. M. Neppe, 2003a). Physicists may be intrigued by the implications and attempt to explain it using modified models of quantum physics, for example. In essence, scientists may be able to accommodate such theorizing within the natural laws of our current scientific base.
