Today on Roll20 I started using Isometric maps for wilderness/outdoors encounters. I really like the style as it reminds me of some of the games I played back in the 90′s. I’ve been hard at work collecting some assets for it, as soon as I get them collected up, I’ll zip them on a google-drive and provide them to you guys (the free ones).

My Favorite Arma 3 Mods

1: Community Upgrade Project Terrains. This is the successor to the All-in-Arma Terrain pack and contains a number of maps from the Arma series. Many of the maps, notably Sarahni and Chenarus, have been vastly improved over their original imports. Stability on structures, ladders, and other spots has been improved. There are some errors with textures, missing files, and alpha-mapping, but these are very minor.

2: Community Upgrade Project (Weapons, Vehicles, Factions): Still pretty early in development, the CUP packs are some of the most expansive in Arma 3′s mod collection. The vehicles are solid and immersive, as are the weapons. The factions are still being built, but with all that it will be adding, we should soon see a replacement for RHS.

3: ACE3: ACE3 brings medical and other realism interactions into the game. I absolutely hate playing without it. It makes being a medic fun and challenging and adds a lot of things that BI forgot to add when making arma 3.

4: OPTRE Operation Trebuchet is the Halo ODST mod for Arma 3. Set in the years before First Contact with the Covenant, this mod allows you to play out the conflict between the UNSC and the Insurrectionists. The development team is open and awesome.

5: ALiVE ALIVE is one of those very awesome mods that takes something the engine -should- be doing and makes it happen. ALiVE allows for mission makers to set parameters for a full on occupation or invasion force without having to place units or manage things after the fact. With ALIVE you can simulate thousands of AI units, including realistic acting civilians, all over a huge area without any loss in performance. Amazing mod. It also includes the ability to make persistent campaigns.
