Okay on Taylor Swift: Her music drives me up the wall. Like I canât stand it. But on Taylor Swift bashing: Iâm almost 35 years old. If people read my journals or love letters or poetry I wrote when I was 17, 19, 21, etc, Iâd be mortified. I hadnât even learned how to people yet. Shit I still canât act like a grown up. Iâm an idiot now. Iâd be embarrassed if someone was actually reading this blog and reading me âdefendingâ Taylor Swift who admittedly irritates me but I donât know her. She may actually be really cool in real life and again, doesnât know how to people yet.
Calling her a âslut cuntâ or a âtrick ass hoeâ isnât going to get one of the guys from One Direction to go out with you. Or John Mayer (and by the way does no one feel the need to point out is OLDER than I am and said really awful things about Jessica Simpson when they were together AND then dated a very much younger Taylor Swift.Â
Ladies, and you are ladies you just donât know it yet, bashing on Taylor Swift because she writes songs about her ex boyfriends or she dates a lot or whatever isnât cute. When you get older youâll realize that women are your allies, not your enemies. When that cute boy in the skinny jeans breaks your heart, and he will, your girlfriends will come over to your undoubtably kick ass apartment/dorm room/back bedroom tumblr-fied nest and they will bring ice cream and hugs or vodka and cigarettes or pizza and they will listen to you cry. Theyâll watch you pick your nails apart and theyâll say albeit ignorant and offensive things about your ex, something that sounds like a Taylor Swift song, theyâll say these things to you, for you, to make you feel better. Theyâll want you to say shitty things about your ex, which may not even be true but it will make you feel better. Every venting session you have with a girlfriend IS a Taylor Swift song.
Tearing down a female pop star out of jealousy doesnât make you cool. If you donât intimately know someone, you donât know what kind of person they are.Â
