For years, Thornton wandered alone, aimless and only half-lucid from heavy psychotropic abuse. When he eventually reunited with Oakley, he was stubbornly resistant to getting help, but over time he reluctantly gave in. The lasting effects of his substance use have left him paranoid and prone to vivid hallucinations. A closed-off misanthrope, he scoffs at the kindness of others and keeps everyone at arm’s length. The only people he truly loves are his family, yet his deep shame over his past behavior makes it difficult for him to face them. Though he may seem ungrateful, he’s fortunate to have crossed paths with Oakley again: someone who refuses to give up on him, even when he tries to push that help away.

When attacking is not necessary, Oakley opts to use stealth in the way of being heard but unseen. He plays his grass flute like many other Nuzleaf to create a sense of unease and fear in his enemies, though he can also use it to lull them to sleep. Oakley moves faster jumping from tree to tree than he does running on ground. His ability is Pickpocket which he uses to steal dangerous weapons off his opponent, similar to Knock Off. Oakley has night vision, but is still diurnal, as he needs sunlight to recharge his energy

Oakley and Sho's relationship is plagued by a constant cycle of arguing and "make-up" sex. Oakley desires deep, intimate love, but fails to communicate what he wants because he fears showing vulnerability. He is emotionally unavailable and shuts down when Sho is in need of emotional support. He uses sex and drinking as an outlet to avoid talking about his feelings. Sho, on the other hand, is emotionally immature and often blows up over small annoyances. He has a tendency to catastrophize, fearing any one thing can lead to their breakup. He is terrified of being alone and is co-dependent on Oakley. After seven years of frustration and "settling for one another," the two eventually break up and become better friends because of it.

Sho might have a smile that says "I know what you're thinking," but he barely knows what to do with himself when he's not busy servicing clients. He spends a lot of time absently drinking, smoking, or simply lying around with his thoughts. He is vulnerable to depression. (January 2020)
