Why could he not speak his mind? That sort of forthright behavior that her elder brother was a trait she admired in people, yet the prince always... Held his tongue around her. If anyone should be holding their tongue, it should be her, really; after all, he was royalty and she was, well, she was her-- But it’d always been the opposite with them.

Father was a toymaker. Mother was a wanderess. Brother is a carver. But myself? I am not so sure yet.

“You don’t believe me, do you?” He glanced down, biting his lip before looking up again. There was a slight grin on his face, but he still had a look of disappointment.

"Kili...” The young dwarrowdam trailed off, glancing to the side for a moment in an effort to collect herself and her thoughts. For as long as the Prince had pursued her, she’d simply written it off as nothing more than honeyed words from gilded lips. After all-- He was a prince, and she? She was a canary.

“You weren’t what?” Curiosity drew her gaze back to him, lips curled in a slight pout, eyes searching his face for some sort of clue or answer that would prove he didn’t mean it. But despite her best efforts, she found nothing.

“I just…didn’t think…” The prince stumbled with his words before finally forming a sentence. “I missed you, so much.”

Now why did he have to go and say something like that? She’d been away from the mountain with her mother, visiting the Iron Hills, but she honestly didn’t think she’d be missed-- Even by, well, him.

“I was visiting my gran’amad back in Emyn Angren... Y’didn’ really miss me, did you...?”
