I had found this hidden gem using the foursquare app and I have not had one regret. In the last three months, I have been twice with two different diets (meat eater and vegan). The menu has many options, ala carte, and nothing coast over $5.95. There are three locations and the decor is pretty much the same, a beach house vacation vibe. Even the side of the building opens up to give the customers inside the feeling of being outside as well.
The classic Mexican side (dish?)
I didn’t order this but my mother’s friend did and they both said it was good. From what I can recall this side dish is extremely easy to make just add; mayo, cheese ( parmesan ), seasoning and lime.
Cauliflower Taco, Chicken Taco, and Mahi Taco
On the left is a nicely roasted cauliflower with mild salsa, in the middle well-cooked chicken with garnish, and the end battered Mahi. The cauliflower had a nice crunch and such great texture that once you add fresh lime juice, you don’t even miss the meat. The Mahi wasn’t my favorite due to the fact that I felt like I had more batter than actual fish.
Vegan: Cauliflower Taco, Falafel Taco, and Fresh Lime Pineapple
The cauliflower taco is already made vegan, however if you have peanut allergies be sure to inform your waiter. As for the falafel, IT ‘S NOT VEGAN…with the sauce. It’s very important to inform them that you don’t want the sauce and only a plain falafel. As for the pineapple, it was juicy and oozed sweetness. It was so good that my mouth began to pucker up.
In total, the overall experience with Bartaco has been nothing but great. With the wonderful prices, there is no reason why anyone would pass up on a magical transportation to the west coast after taking a bite!
