This adulation of River is no surprise to his mother, although she does find it all “extraordinary”. She knows that, not only people who met River, but even those who have only seen him on television or in his movies, even people who have simply read about him, have experienced some incredible connection to him, even if only by faith. “Maybe even once you saw him in person,” she says, “but for the most part, whatever touched you about him was something that went beyond the normal realm of relationship. Some may never have physically touched, and whether in person or on the screen, we all got to look into his eyes. Yet, somehow you feel you know him. And, you do! You know his essence. You know his soul and spirit because he yearned to share that with you. He talked about what mattered to you… the part of you deep inside your heart. He did not talk about fashion, the car you drive, your favorite TV show, or your religion. No, River spoke to something else. He spoke to the part of you that wants to know who you really are”
