From friends to enemies; [IM SO SLOW I HATE MY SLOWNESS]
“Live with me, duh! You can stay in my apartment until you clear your name and then we could spruce up your place! Hn, what a great idea! You may even come to like Sai!”
Being the unpredictable ninja that he was, apparently Naruto would never cease to amaze the last of the Uchiha. With furrowed eyebrows in response to the blonde’s words, Sasuke couldn’t help but give the other an irritated and somewhat confused stare. How would that solve anything? Of course, living with Naruto would probably make it less likely for others to attack him; but not nearly enough. Also, it wouldn’t be enough to simply apologize at this point in time, and be expected to be forgiven without so much as doing something else in return.
No, Sasuke knew his name would never be cleared— and he wasn’t so sure he wanted it to be. The Uchiha clan may have been planning to go against Konoha, but when the village chose to release one of its own family members against them—… Well that was just it; it couldn’t be forgiven. He couldn’t forgive them, let alone wanted to be forgiven by them.
Onyx irises glanced up as the sound of paced footsteps met his ears and as his arm was grasped and tugged— he glared slightly but stood regardless. Stumbling a bit, he let out a soft breath as an arm wrapped around his shoulders and resisted the urge to immediately shove the other as hard as he could away from himself.
So when Naruto finally pulled away, the only thing the Uchiha did was tug on his sleeve as he pulled his shirt back over his right shoulder. Watching Naruto walk away from him, he dusted his palms off on the back of his thighs before stepping further away from the other as well, and onto the other side of the fire.
As Naruto began to talk, rambling on about the fire, the only thing Sasuke could do was drown the other out by closing his eyes and leaning against the cool and slightly damp cave wall. Ridiculous as always— Naruto’s ideas; to think that they could simply go back, despite what could be done and solve this as if it were nothing more than a riddle, or a child’s puzzle. This wasn’t a game, Sasuke hadn’t robbed a store of its candy— what he did wasn’t the sort of thing that could be so easily forgiven, as Naruto implied it would be.
Lifting his gaze when the other spoke to him, he simply folded his arms across his chest and crossed one leg over the other— still leaning against the wall. “If it annoys you so much, take your clothes off to dry.” Bored expression beginning to lace his appearence, he pushed off the wall and moved near the fire to squeeze out a bit of water that was still held within the fingerless gloves he had been wearing. With a sigh, he slid the ties from around his waist and allowed them to remove themselves. “Use this dobe, and hang your clothing or something.” Extending his arm to the other, he held out the purple coloured bands as he stared.
Sasuke seemed to have no response to the idea of living with Naruto. Was it really that bad of an idea? Naruto furrowed his brows and frowned, looking up at the cave ceiling again. Why did Sasuke have to be so damn apathetic about shit? Life wasn't that bad. Well, not to Naruto, anyways. The blond always had a reason to fight on and keep smiling. He hated getting down on himself and he hated people who didn't know what it was like to be happy. Here was a kid who didn't have parents -- well he did but they were dead -- and had no siblings. He grew up with no friends for most of his life and was an outcast until recent years. Yet he smiled. He smiled and lived each day as if it were the greatest day of his life. Naruto didn't need to think lowly of anything. He was the type of person who knew things would get better if he kept his hands held high. It was just a simple principle of life. If you let things bother you, then life would be nothing but an empty hole filled with despair. But that wasn't what Naruto believed in. He believed in hope. “Use this dobe, and hang your clothing or something.” Naruto hadn't even realized Sasuke had crossed the space again to stand before him. In fact, he hadn't even realized Sasuke had moved to begin with, let alone speak. Naruto blinked and looked up at him, seeing the purple rope in his hands. It was odd to think despite feeling hatred, Sasuke was hiding that little feeling of caring for an old friend -- Sasuke would probably never admit to that and that was something that made the blond start laughing. Sasuke was such an asshole, but a well-deserved to be asshole. Naruto beamed and took the ropes, standing up as he figured a way to string them up as a clothes line.
"Maa, might as well do the same, teme." Naruto shrugged and slipped the netted shirt off, draping it over the purple ropes. He slipped out of his orange pants and then picked up his jacket, draping everything over to dry, leaving him in nothing but his black and orange boxers. The blond quickly sat down in front of the fire, rubbing his arms in order to quickly warm up now that he was exposed.
He sneezed and then frowned, looking over at Sasuke sheepishly. "How are you not irritated by that wet clothing? Maa, I hate the feeling of clothes clinging to my skin! Makes me feel fat and sticky!" He poked out his lower lip and then beamed, holding his hands over the fire.

From friends to enemies; [sassy babbu~ c:]
It seemed as if going silent after speaking was something that could be considered normal between him and Naruto, now. For every time Sasuke finished speaking, or even Naruto—both would go quiet and not say a word before either speaking again; or something would happen. Only this time, Sasuke wasn’t prepared for what was going to happen. Not that it surprised him—or made him feel shocked; but his reaction was simply… Baffling. He was confused. Naruto was laughing. Actually laughing either at him, or because of something he wasn’t really sure he had done.
Eyebrows creasing upon his visage, Sasuke slowly turned as he faced the other, a bit more head on—as he held in the glare which threatened to be aimed in the others’ direction. He was about to demand an answer as to what the male found so terribly amusing—when Naruto interrupted him by moving, as well as answering for him.
“Man, Sasuke Uchiha is apologizing. Maa, that never happens, ttebayo! I must have knocked your head against the floor, teme! This just can’t be happening right now, really!”
Watching Naruto move as he spoke, Sasuke’s eyes traveled throughout the cave; eying Naruto as the blonde moved towards his clothing before placing it back down to finish drying. So that was what amused him? The fact that Sasuke had actually said the words ‘I’m sorry’ in apology.
Letting out a soft breath, the Uchiha slowly closed his eyes as he reached up to rub the back of his neck. He was apologizing for startling the other, as well as making Naruto feel as though he should be responsible for all this. And by all this, he meant bringing him back. He was well aware of Naruto’s promise to Sakura, and knowing Naruto—he wouldn’t stop until they were either both dead, or gone home together.
Standing slowly, Sasuke pushed himself off of the ground as he dusted off the back of his pants and moved closer to the fire. Instead of sitting next to the other, this time he moved across from the other as he sat almost on the complete other side of the fire, to Naruto. Crossing his legs as he shifted on the stone floor, he placed his hands onto his knees as his eyes rose whilst hearing the other begin to speak.
“Y’know… I’m sure there’s a way for you to come home without wanting to take down everyone inside… Sasuke, I don’t… I won’t let you die in darkness. I just won’t.”
Pressing his lips together tightly, a thin line formed upon the Uchiha’s face as his fingertips clenched lightly into the material of his pants. Again, the silence stretched as Sasuke paused in thought—trying to think of what to say, if he were to say anything at all. Seeing the others’ actions as he finished speaking, the brunette could tell that Naruto would only further push his words onto him—not in a stressful way, no; Naruto only ever meant what he said and did as a good thing—he only intended to do what was right.
Sasuke envied him for that.
Letting out another breath, this one a bit quieter—he allowed his shoulders to slump as he looked into the fire. Lips parting, he spoke quietly beneath his breath—almost as quiet as a whisper as he asked Naruto a question. A question which he was rather afraid of the answer for, to be honest. “And what way would that be, Naruto?”
Sometimes Sasuke expected way to much of Naruto. The blond never thought ahead and was always known as the most unpredictable ninja so it was kind of funny when Sasuke asked him questions as if he had an answer to them. In a way, it flattered Naruto that Sasuke thought that much of him, but in a way it was also hilarious because Naruto would never ever even think to plan ahead. He said whatever was on his mind and he never knew what he would say next. It was a matter of fact and that wasn't something the teen could change overnight. In fact, he hadn't changed that about himself in three years so why start now? That's why it was so funny when Sasuke asked him for an answer anyways. It was like Sasuke didn't remember much about the blond at all. Naruto merely grinned smugly and looked up at the cave ceiling as if he were planning out what to say which in actuality, he wasn't. He was really just staring to get a rise out of Sasuke who was probably growing more and more annoyed with Naruto by the minute. Another smug smile came across his face. “And what way would that be, Naruto?” He grinned and rubbed the back of his head before giving a rather cheeky peace sign. "Live with me, duh! You can stay in my apartment until you clear your name and then we could spruce up your place! Hn, what a great idea! You may even come to like Sai!" Naruto grinned and stood up for the umpteenth time. He wandered over to Sasuke and reached out, pulling on the Uchiha's arm to lift him to his feet. Naruto beamed and threw an arm around his neck, his other hand giving a thumbs up. The rain was subsiding now and it looked like they would be able to travel pretty early. Well, it was still dark, but it was a lot earlier than the original plan to leave in the morning. Naruto pulled his arm off of Sasuke and walked over to his jacket, shaking it out. "Man, it's still damp! Come on fire, do your magic! Make it dry already!" He frowned and held up his jacket near the flickering flames, pouting as he felt chills run down his spine. It was growing a little colder and all he had on was the netting that he wore under his jacket. It would have been a great day to wear that black tank.
Then there was the fact of his pants still clinging to his skin. They hadn't dried at all. Maybe they would have to wait until morning. Naruto sneezed and furrowed his brows, resting a hand on his hip. "Ne, teme, you know any jutsus that can warm us up? I'm tired of sitting in these damn wet clothes!" Naruto scowled and shook out his jacket again, squatting down in front of the flames with a rather amusing look on his face.
