Akihito Takuma

Akihito Takuma(1966-) Born in Kumamoto, Japan. After graduating from Shiga University Graduate School in 1993, he moved to Europe. He was a member of the Circulo de Bellas Artes (Madrid Art Center) until 1994. His first solo exhibition was in 1992 (Gallery Iteza, Kyoto), and he has had many solo exhibitions since then. Since 1992, he has produced "Painting from Record of Action," which record the actions of various people on canvas, and in 1997, he held an exhibition in which he opened his home to the public (in collaboration with Yasuda Sanae). Since 2004, he has produced "Lines of Flight," an oil painting that is completed in one go with a two-meter brush. In 2005, he won the Excellence Award at the Hyogo International Painting Competition, an international open exhibition commemorating the 10th anniversary of the earthquake reconstruction. In 2006, he became a full-time teacher of painting at Wako University. He has also been recognized overseas, having been a finalist in the Saatchi Online Showdown in 2011 and 2014. As of 2022, he is a professor at the Department of Art at Wako University. His public collections include the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, Iwaki City Museum of Art, Shikisai Museum of Art, Ueshima Collection, Hirose Collection, etc.
