Pokemon researchers his age seemed to be far and few between, at least in Galar. Mostly everyone else is a trainer or even a Gym Leader. “Sonia– The professor, she wanted me to come out here and record noibat sightings. We’re doing something about daylight patterns, I think.” He ruffles the top of his Cinderace’s head as the pokemon stands on tip-toed paws to try and stack up to the Silvally.
“Honestly, I was recording fine for a bit…. but then people kept asking me if I wanted to battle, so then we had to stop for curry– an’ then I saw a pidove who stuck in some branches, so I stopped again to climb the tree…..” Admitting all this to someone who actually claimed to be a researcher was…. embarrassing?
“–Heh. Can you tell I’ve got no clue yet?”
He...he really reminded him of Hau. With such a bubbly attitude, Gladion could say it was a breath of fresh air. So many people these days were always just so dedicated to becoming the best trainer there was, but this kid. This one seemed more than happy with staying as a researcher. Hau was still ever determined to become the best trainer but, from what he’s heard, Hau seemed happy to become the Kahuna or a researcher himself.
Gladion didn’t think Hau made up his mind just yet.
“Everyone has their own way of doing things.” Gladion’s eyes catch the way Zeus curiously cocks their head down at the Cinderace. Almost as if the Silvally couldn’t believe that the Cinderace was trying to make himself seem bigger than he actually was. “Even if it’s spent doing things you like-”
Cut off by Zeus smacking a paw into the Cinderace’s side (not roughly) and the Silvally swiftly darted off. A request to play? Probably. “You’re doing fine.”
