Bucky-Buckaroo, my beloved

I will never cease to be impressed by what happened in that scene.

Bucky was completely lost, terrified and in pain. Not only mentally, but physically as well. His prosthetic arm was damaged, his human arm was ripped from its socket and his ribs were likely broken from the weight of the beam that had crushed him. He jumped dozens, if not hundreds of meters into the water where the Helicarriers were falling and with both arms damaged he found the strength to not only to swim, but also to pull Steve to the surface and tow him to shore, which was far, far away.

Do you know how impressive that is?

It's not just physical strength, as Hydra likely pushed him beyond his limits many times, but the mental strength he found within himself at that moment. And how much he loved Steve Rogers to bring to do it. Platonic or romantic, however you prefer to interpret it.

It wasn't even the fact that he woke up in the future, all his friends except Dum Dum and Peggy were dead, and he was still mourning Bucky, who, for everyone else, had died decades ago, but the very fact of society's expectations for him.

Steve was awakened from the ice, and people expected the great Captain America, whose myth had grown over the years, the experience and wisdom of a hundred-year-old man…

And Steve was a goddamn 26 years old.

1) Learn the tagging culture that the Tumblr community has created, where anti XYZ content is tagged as "anti XYZ" so that people who don't want to see it can filter it out.

2) Over 22 years ago Ed Brubaker retconned Cap and Bucky's story, making Steve exactly 2 years and 8 months older than Bucky, and when they started working together, Bucky was 16+. The whole "kid Bucky" story and Steve treated like a "father fiigure" to Bucky is a piece of in-universe propaganda created solely to make his enemies aware of a less harmful propaganda version of Bucky. If you know of a story where Batman was +/-19 when he met a 16-year-old Robin, who was introduced to him by the military to be his partner and kill people for him, I'd love to hear about it.

3) If you're even more of a poser than I thought, you might not know that not only was 616 retconned, but there are other universes where Steve and Bucky are childhood friends, like the Ultimates (which the MCU is partially based on) or the Planet Hulk comic series, where it's mostly people who ship the comics Stucky.

4) People were shipping the comics Stucky even before the MCU, based on Brubaker's retcon. You can find fan fiction from 2008 on AO3.

We have a world where Steve not only abandoned Bucky and his friends, even though in the comics he said even becoming a hobo was a good option if he was going to be with his buddy if he could change time*, but Steve also abandoned Sharon, who risked her entire career, freedom and life for him an his firends, and he used her, didn't contact her for SEVEN YEARS, five of which he could have helped her clear her name, and then BECAME HER FUCKING UNCLE.

because steve’s main issue with the sokovia accords is that in signing them the avengers “surrender their right to choose” and if they sign them, they will be essentially owned by the government. and steve says that the government is “run by people with agendas and agendas change.”

how does bucky killing the starks come into this? howard worked for the government. he worked for shield, and thus worked unknowingly for hydra, for years. until one day hydra decided that howard was a loose end that needed taken care of. shield’s (hydra’s) agenda changed. and when their agenda changed they sent in the winter soldier to kill howard and maria.

But what exactly?

Our little darling pre-serum!Steve weighed 43 kg at 162.8 cm tall (I'm using centimeters because I don't understand the american metric system, okay?). However, after taking the serum his weight jumped to almost 109 kg at 188.2 cm tall. This information is easy to spot in the museum scenes in CA:WS, so it's not really a big deal, is it?

BUT

Not everyone notices that information about Bucky's height and weight also appeared in CA:WS. (Bucky, not Sebastian, because for some reason it's different.) When found by the Soviets Bucky weighed 70.3 kg and was 175.2 cm tall.

But why am I talking about this?

Rounding numbers:

175 - 162 = 13 188 - 175 = 13 

The canonical height difference between Steve and Bucky was kept, just reversed.

1. Why weren’t Steve and Sharon endgame? WHAT WAS THE REASON?? The comics were literally right there.

2. The MCU writers literally put 5% effort into crafting Steve and Sharon’s relationship, & then acted surprised when there wasn’t overwhelming support for it? And instead of actually writing a good relationship in the TWO FILMS that followed CW featuring Cap, they just covered it up with MORE shitty writing that completely destroyed Steve as a character in the process?

3. Don’t even get me started on how a CAPTAIN AMERICA movie spent more time on Tony Stark and Peter Parker’s relationship than Steve and Sharon’s….

4. People who say “Sharon would’ve been more popular if she was played by someone else” can shut tf up. Emily is an amazing actress and could have chemistry with a wall. Blame. The. Writing.
