This past Saturday on October 6th, a group of Cornell Tech students who have been working with Niti Parikh in MakerLAB over a past couple of weeks took 'Drawing Arms' for a participatory Art experiment! These arms were inspired from an old tool called 'Pantogrph' which was used for copying a drawing or plan on a different scale by a system of hinged rods. About 3 different Arms with interchangeable colored markers at varying heights were installed on 6'x16' plywood. 100+ participants of varying ages interacted with 'Drawing Arms' over a period of 5 hours doodling with over 1000+ strokes. It will be on display just south of campus in the east lawns of South Point Park for 3 more weeks!
This past spring in MakerLAB @ CORNELL TECH, 6 senior community members were paired up with 6 Cornell Tech graduate students and 6 Weill Cornell Medicine Clinical Translational Science Center (WCM CTSC) students to work together to design and create a real world product that could address a challenge posted by the senior community using 3D printing technology.

There is so much to take in for a designer from any environment no matter what part of the world! Although I still find India my best source of inspiration. Complexity and simplicity can coexist with layers of history and richness of materials.
Looking forward to 2015!
