Sadly, the files are subject to copyright, as the designer of the model is selling them (which is totally his right looking at the work put into this).My gear cube files are from a DeviantArt member named in the post of the build, who designed his own version based on pictures of the original build. For some time, the files could be found somewhere in the comments on one of his pictures on DeviantArt, though I‘m not sure if they are still there. He stopped offering his files he designed himself after the original designer asked him to stop distributing them and respect his copyright on the design.Anyone looking for the files can either hunt for them online or do the right thing and buy directly from the original designer and show support for the dedication and work put into the exceptional design.

A book which is definitely not a book. Making boxes requires A LOT planning ahead, keeping all the measurements down to 0,5 mm in mind, so two parts actually fit into each other. You don‘t want the inside rumbling around in the case or worse, not fit at all. And you will be damned if you forget that 1mm layer of linen in your planning (which totally not nearly happened in the making of this). So, having said this, I was sceptic when the idea to this popped up in my head. But loving challenging myself, I started building and despite some emergency changes in the process, the outcome is quite awesome! Book slipcase with fake pages, inside a fold up box suitable for love letters or postcards. The box can be pulled out of the case by color matched fabric rubber band.

Bad equipment almost always ruins my crafting mood. So the downsides of not having a flexible light source was driving me insane. Looking for better lamps online left me puzzled, as they were either way too expensive or good looking but crappy to use (or sometimes both). After some rough sketches for a height-adjustable lamp with a wide lighting range, I gathered the parts and started building. The body is made from strong black 3 mm bookbinders board, layered for extra stability. The light comes from a simple and cheap LED strip with a battery pack. I extracted the switch from the pack and integrated it into my lampshade and soldered the LED strip (cut in two parts) together and to the switch. To power up the lamp, I used a simple USB 2.0 cable, which features the same power output/voltage as the LED strip, which was cut down in length and again soldered to the cable. The base features a small compartment to put a USB powerbank into, which keeps the lamp on for about 5-8 hours. If the powerbank runs empty, the lamp can simply be connected to any USB power output, like a computer or laptop. All joints of the lamp have butterfly nuts, this way every angle can be adjusted essily to a desired height (or width). The base has a small plate so you can put on some counterweight and let the lampshade hang wide above the cutting matte without tipping over. So, all in all, I‘ really happy with the result, although the construction and planning definitely gave me some headaches.

Sometimes you get caught up in the building process and forget to document the progress, so this is only the finished result: Photo album in stitch binding, inside a hardcover held together by a japanese binding. The spine is large enough to allow adding a lot of pictures and still close nicely.

From old to new(ish)... Repair of a rounded hardcover.

Blacked out notebook in a slim width-to-height-ratio. Black paper, black cover boards, perfect binding with black linen tape for added durability and black elastic strap to keep it closed.

I made a paper-themed illustration of a quote and decided to bring the paper theme to real life. Illustration done in a layered style featuring a mean octopus and a quite small boat. 

Special feature is the glue accident on the front, I still need to work on my excessive glue usage...

Holding 6 signatures with dotted paper, it features a hardcover and a long stitch binding. The hardcovers are wrapped with the printed outdoor label, so they will not suffer or fade from heavy use.

My very first self-modelled 3D object made in SketchUp and unfolded with Pepakura. I still need to work on the individual parts and the unfolding, current separation into parts is a mess and building it is headache-inducing.

You can see the progress, which took around 1 1/2 years to complete, due to me being fed up on a regular basis with the insane amount of glue tabs and folds.

Took me ages to cut all the glue tabs, but the result is really awesome.
