there're many events definitely shape her character and the way she acts and articulates herself with the world around her since she is constantly growing and changing throughout the story developing new perspectives of seeing the world, but the kickstart to all those future events and growth began when the fire broke out during the wall maria breach.

Seeing the world she was born into and grew up in, even for the short period of time be demolished and scorched whilst titans rummaging through, until there was practically nothing left but ash and ruination, she felt this sense of helplessness and grief, not only for herself for but for the others around her, especially for her baby brother Hughie, because it wasn't just her world collapsing in the blink of an eye but hundreds of other peoples as well and that weighed on her.

she understood the defenselessness and how it feels seeing so many people she cared about have this powerlessness, that feeling led her to set her own feelings about it aside and birthed this strength within her and became a bit of representative reluctant hero of her village,

i say 'representative' because during the training corps first scene when the characters are shown telling their names and the villages/districts that their from, it's always served to me as the solider they become represents the strength from that place even if its multiply from one its still like representing that place

She already had this urgency to protect over Hughie but as as time continues on and she attends the 104th and becomes scout, she bodied that urgency to protect and reflected to not just him but others as well.

daily she remembers the horrid sight of the demolishment of her village and she knows that she doesn't want other people experience that type of suffering and fear and agony, and seeing the world crumble.

She big empath and wants to protect as many people as possible, as i've said before she'll sacrifice herself for the greater.

so for a restart, Akeda is an empath as i've said before, inquisitive a bit intrusive, empath. she feels very deeply for others around her so much that she can barely feel her own emotions, as i mentioned before in this passage she's overly protective over her brother (whose name i might change but that doesn't matter) anyway, her protectiveness and empathy go hand-in-hand with each other, understanding grief and loss and seeing so much of it that feeling of protective as i've said grew and displayed onto others.

again, as i've mentioned she felt powerless and utterly broken during the fire for herself and the people around her taking that into initiative she wants people to feel like they don't have to carry that burden of defenselessness alone, knowing that someone will lay down their life for you and others for nothing in return but the sake of your safety kind of makes a world of pain and death feel a lot less lonely i think uhmm...

even amongst a thousand soldiers if she were to die she wouldn't be remembered by many but its not about remembered for her or how many flowers she gets for her service as a scout but for the deaths she can prevent, if saving people meant sacrificing herself the thought of hesitation wouldn't even cross her mind.
