I started drawing these nearly a MONTH ago, but because of this damn wrist injury flaring back up, I could only work on them a tiny bit at a time. Anyway, Luis Serra in three slightly different flamenco dresses, presumably dancing for Leon because the topic came up and also the idea that Luis would, in fact, look very dashing in a ruffly dress TOO.
It's [Mutation AU] thus more than one scar on Luis's back, but ehhh you don't need details to appreciate this particular piece.

would you still love me even if I was whatever the hell those other guys are
making an attempt at getting something out in one sitting instead of marinating on it for weeks/months and it's gotta be now because I'm busy for the next few days, so here isn't Luis's tierlist but something along the lines of it. CW for uuuh crude discussion of sex I guess, not much tho and nothing hugely descriptive
@polarspaz @quasar-crew
"So what do you think about all those other me's?" Leon asks from Luis's lap, decompressing from the excitement of having a hell of a lot of different copies of himself in an assortment of shapes and sizes assemble in the same room. The other man's fingers don't stop running through his hair and scratching gently over spots that make him generate a constant insectoid purr.
Luis hums. "It's interesting, of course. The idea of different realities, the differences between them-"
"Not what I meant," Leon cuts him off. "I'm asking if any of the other fucked-up me's caught your eye."
That does get Luis's fingers to pause. "And where is this question coming from, hmm?" His tone is cool as he looks down at Leon, keeping his expression neutral for now.
"Not trying to start a fight." Leon reaches up to take hold of Luis's hand and press it against his face, leaning into it. "Just something I've been thinking about, since there's a couple others that look like me, ones that look the way I used to, and even weirder ones... just curious what you thought about them. See anything you like?"
The other man's expression stays even. "I like you, Sancho."
It's hard to pout when you don't have lips, just very solid mandibles that Leon clacks lightly as he huffs. "I promise that I'm an adult that can handle my partner finding other guys attractive, now quit being a wuss, Don Quixote." He gets a flick on the nosebridge for that, but still no answers from Luis. "Come on, humor me. Would you still love me if I was a panda?"
Luis finally cracks a small smile at that and relents. "Of course I would." After a moment, he continues. "The fur would be nice when it gets cold."
Leon hums, agreeing. "Panda would probably deal with Alaska better than I do." He waits, but Luis isn't quite on board with the game enough to continue himself, so he follows up with another prompt. "How about a lizard-thing?"
"The long one or the big one?" Luis seems to be back in good enough humor to continue petting as he avoids giving direct answers.
"Either. Both. Quit holding out on me."
"Both?" Luis asks in mock-astonishment. "You're asking a lot of me, mi amor."
"Kaiju's dick is probably as big as you are - you'd still try that?"
Luis shrugs. "It would be a challenge, but for you, I would try. I'm sure I would figure something out"
"So are any of them a hard no?"
"As I said, if it's you, I would be willing to try," Luis answers smoothly, lowering his voice to add, "And I am not a coward."
Leon huffs a laugh. "Even the skeleton?"
Luis thinks a little. "He can't be just a skeleton. Something needs to be there to make it move, and if whatever that is is capable of enjoying sex, then sure, why not."
Seems reasonable enough. "I guess kissing a skeleton wouldn't be too different from trying to kiss me now."
There's another moment of silence after Luis makes a noise of agreement, before he suddenly grimaces a little. "You would be terrible as a skeleton." At Leon's questioning noise, he continues. "Your jokes."
It doesn't take long for Leon to figure out what he means. Boning. Heh. "Absolutely godawful," he agrees. If Luis's answers are just going to be 'if it's possible, then sure' then there's not much point in asking about any of the others, so instead Leon trails along the thought of bad bedroom talk. "Tellie's lines would be bad too - poor guy can't even say fuck. How bout it, Luis? Wanna fluff?"
Luis is not amused, and starts moving to get up. "No more - I am finished with this conversation."
"So Tellie would be a hard no if that's what you'd have to put up with?"
"Feel free to stay here and keep thinking about me with other men - should I do the same in my room or can you give me something else to think of?"
Hey guys, I'm back with another Death Mark/Yashiki art! But first I wanna thank you guys so, so much for the many positive commentaries and support from last time - I felt very touched, that means a lot to me!! <3 <3 My art is something very important to me and it helps me get through life, even if I'm not always able to draw - and it means the world to me that there's people who like what I'm doing! :' )
Sorry this came out a little dark/sad, I tend to draw more dramatic stuff when I'm feeling low (Yashiki here looks a lot how I've been feeling inwardly lately)... ^^' I know I've already drawn a similar looking piece for the inktober challenge, but the inspiration for this one came from the way Saya dies in the story - I imagined how Yashiki would look like with a chest full of flowers. And then I somehow ended up combining that with drawing the ribs and spine partly visible again - I just think it makes for a cool effect, adding bone/skeleton-parts on characters in a drawing. The stark contrast of the white ribs against the black shadows in the free space in-between has an interesting look. I guess the background ended up looking a bit empty - originally I had planned to fill it with a lot more flowers but lost motivation at some point... 'xD The chest should probably have some more flowers as well, but I did want the ribs to be still visible and not covered too much. I guess I need a lot more practice in how to fill empty space in drawings more efficiently (and aesthetically). I'm always planning to draw more detailed pieces but end up getting lazy in the end... ^^' And I know I probably did some anatomical mistakes here (for one I should've moved the cervical spine much more into the back - noticed that a little too late...).
Anyway, thank you guys for taking a look! Let me know what you think of it if you like. :) I don't know when I'll post again but I hope it will be soon. Until then, take care!

Heyyy guys, I hope you're all doing well!!!! I know it's been a while - I hope I haven't turned into a stranger yet, haha... 'xD I'm sorry for disappearing without a word, these past two months haven't been very easy on me. Without going into detail, me and my family received a couple of bad news which lead to a lot of changes and accomodations to my normal daily life, and I haven't exactly been in a state to think about drawing in that time. It might be getting a little better now - at least I've been able to draw this new piece - but it remains to be seen if I can keep it up or not. So sadly I cannot officially say yet that I am really back. But I hope that I will be soon.
Sooo, about this piece. I was partly inspired by the first cover of the Death Mark 2 manga (I really liked the red eyes and Yashiki's serious stare there), but also by a WIP piece you haven't seen yet - wow, I just checked the date of the first draft and realized it's been almost a whole year since I started that WIP... 'xD This other piece also features Yashiki/Masamune with spider lilies, with the same color sheme of mostly red and black. There's just one detail that I'm still not quite happy with, I hope I can get myself to sit down and fix it some time so I can finally post it - it's really about time, haha. ^^' Anyway, back to today's piece. The three pieces you see here are the first pencil sketch, the digital sketch I did afterwards (to figure out the inking/coloring) and the final traditional piece. I drew this with Masamune in mind more than Yashiki, hence the more serious expression (and also the red eyes make me think more of the Kujou name for some reason). I would have liked to draw him with a black/dark shirt like he is portrayed in the manga, but that wouldn't have worked for this piece - it would have been too much black/dark area and made it hard to tell apart the shirt from the hair/background. There's no real deeper meaning or thought behind this picture - I just wanted to draw a piece with some flowers in it and play around with creating highlights by using one bright color. Also I've seen that "trick" of 'the character's hair merges with the background' by other artists before and wanted to try it out myself. For the colors I brightened the red with a little orange and mixed a bit of blue into the black ink to make it brighter and more harmonious with the red. Originally I had planned to make it completely black but then I thought it would look better if some hair strands would be visible - if only barely - within this huge dark area, and perhaps make it a little "friendlier" to the eye. I really like how it turned out, I think it creates a nice cold/warm-contrast.
I admit the digital drawing was done with less care than normally (because I'm still not quite back into the "drawing mood"), but to make up for it I spent more time to make the ink piece look good. In the end I realized I would have liked to add some decorative elements to the frame, but do do that I should have left more space for it. I didn't want it to look too cramped so I decided against it.
Anyway, I hope you liked this new piece and I whish you all a nice weekend! I don't know when that's gonna be but hopefully see you soon!
I've been a player bringing the game on
I've changed the rules and I've won
I've been a dreamer never to wonder
How far the damage is done
hmmmmm
Dance in the rain beforе the fight
The last of the momеnts to honor our life
Dance when the sun is going down
Nothing can take it away
Tonight I'm alive
oooof
I'm a believer, I never surrender
Gone by tomorrow, gone as a hero

Think you could tell us more some about Matilda in rookiebug au? Like, when did Leon first realise this was a parasite infection, or that the parasite was sapient? When did her protective instincts first make themselves known?
So as the night goes on, Matilda's emotions gets stronger and more pronounced, and it confuses Leon A LOT. He has no idea he has a parasite inside him, he only thinks he's just been physically mutated. So when he starts feeling these weird protective emotions that don't belong to him, he think it might be a sign of trauma or shock.
It's not until they get to the underground labs and read some of Luis's notes does Leon realize he's carrying another passenger inside him, and that those weird foreign emotions he's been feeling were coming from it, and not him.
And Now that it's been pointed out, Leon is hyper aware of Matilda's presence and at first, it scares the shit outta him.
But that fear quickly dissipates after he realizes she's been helping him all night by warning him of danger and keeping him calm. When he was little, Leon never really had a chance to get to know his mother before she died, so getting to experience some form of motherly love, even though it's from a parasite, was kinda nice???
(He honestly realizes his situation could be FAR worse too, cause at least his parasite is nice and not evil or insane?)
As to WHEN Leon first notices that Matilda is more sapient and intelligent than he realized, that would be during he last tussle with Birkin. She basically tells Leon it's going to be okay, that they can handle this fight and that no matter what, she won't let him die.
Here's Leon getting to be human again after 7-8 years of being stuck as a 9 foot tall bug monster, all thanks to Luis and his new medicine!
It's funny cause most of the people in Leon's life at this point have never seen him in his human form, before his infection, and needles to say they are shocked and flabbergasted by how goddamn good looking he is. Leon is clueless of course, too happy about being human again to notice his colleagues and friends flushed faces, especially when he smiles.
(Luis feels like hes gonna keel over from a heart attack any minute, as if his crush wasn't bad enough-!)
Honestly Leon is also a bit stunned by how he looks too. He had no idea the military training had such a drastic effect on him. While he wasn't out of shape when Racoon city happened, he had never been in this fit before in his life.
((Now that he can be human again, Leon immediately wants to go out and do a BUNCH of stupid shit, be it Mini golf, Bingo, Movies, corn mazes, basically the dumber the better. My man has been cooped up in confinement for YEARS and he wants to be able to experience ALL the silly mundane shit he's missed out on and taken for granted.))
((Luis and the others of course are more than happy to indulge him and go out on a bunch of dumb little adventures together, and honestly it's the most fun all of them have had in YEARS.))

Technically speaking, Leon is no worse off than he had been an hour ago. He's still following his one lead that Ashley Graham is possibly being held near the lake. Sure, the first thing he'd found at the lake had been a person who wasn't Ashley, but was the only person he'd run into so far that hadn't had a bug inside them - bugs that are a lot like the bug Leon has inside of him, except that the Spanish variant seem to all be homicidal assholes. Matilda had been so excited when she detected the other bugs, too, and so disappointed when they turned out to be hostile. From the way the infested people acted and what Matilda could tell from the other bugs, the relationship between the other bugs and the people they infested wasn't anywhere near as symbiotic as the one he has with Matilda, and the 'people' were more just bug-hosts. He could tell himself that killing them was a mercy, and they seemed very intent on killing him first so it's not like he has much choice in the matter.
And then it turned out that the man without an evil-Matilda was none other than Dr. Luis Serra, the only name attached to the small amount of Umbrella data they'd been able to dig up on what Matilda even is. He was a very lucky find since he'd practically disappeared several years ago – and unlucky because he's a slippery bastard who hightailed it as soon as they were stopped by some other huge bastard with a huge evil-Matilda. This evil-Matilda was a much bigger threat than the one's he'd seen so far, with familiar bug-like transformations, and fighting him off gave Serra plenty of time to escape.
And so Leon kept searching the buildings around the lake, in the same place he was roughly an hour ago but much more frustrated. He wanted to go and hunt down Serra very very badly. Tragically, Hunnigan had pointedly reminded him that Serra is not the main priority. The second best thing Leon could do is continue his search through the village, taking his anger out on the bugged villagers that were all intent on stopping him.
Another hour of fruitless searching, working his way through the string of buildings along the river trailing away from the lake, no new clues or leads on the missing girl, and the villagers are relentless in trying to kill him even though Leon towers over them. His frustration only gets stronger the longer he makes no progress on the mission. Even worse, the path he's following along is heading away from the lake. The X marked on the map he'd found earlier wasn't exactly specific, and there wasn't much further he could go around the lake without scaling the rock walls or taking a boat to one of the distant piers... Sighing, Leon keeps on towards what looks like a church. He can turn around once he hits ground he's already covered.
The wooden walkways turn to dirt path on the approach to the church, a winding walled incline around to the front of the stone structure. Leon doesn't bother keeping low – the villagers still have a little sense left to keep lookouts, forewarned by their bug intelligence network, but none of them have been able to slow him down like the man outside the cabin. As he gets close, Leon hears something ahead– a rapid approach of nearby footsteps, then the screech of old metal hinges. The second sound is slow, like someone is trying to reduce the noise of the gate, something the villagers wouldn't bother with. Rounding the bend to the clearing in the front of the church, Leon finds Luis Serra moving away from a set of iron gates.
“Running late to church, Dr. Serra?”he growls, continuing towards the scientist. He kind of hopes Serra tries to run.
Serra isn't startled for long, before he smiles wide like he's actually happy to see Leon. “Hey, good to see you still in one piece, amigo!”His friendly demeanor is off-set by his backing away as Leon stalks towards him.
“No thanks to you, you disappeared awfully quick.”
“Believe me, señor, I would have been no help. I would only get in your way.”When Serra hits the stone fence, unable to back up any further, and Leon is close enough to get his hands on the scientist, Matilda suddenly warns him that there's something wrong. She's detecting something alarming, like an enemy bug, but different – stronger, though it isn't alert. Something that Serra didn't have before.
Something that reminds Leon that Serra is former Umbrella in a town full of monsters that don't stay down, a scenario he's all too familiar with. It would make sense that he'd have something stashed away, a weapon maybe, to fall back on if his creations turned on him.
“You never did explain what's going on here,” Leon closes the gap between them by pinning Serra with a single mutated fist, firmly holding the man in place. Serra winces, grin faltering, but he's not the one who responds.
“Back off, Leon,” comes a voice from behind, “He's already spoken for.”
Leon freezes, as does Serra under his fist. Keeping his hand in place, Leon turns slowly to look behind him at another memory of Raccoon City. Ada Wong leisurely strolls toward them, though keeping well out of range of Leon's tail.
“Ada...”Leon breathes, and it's mirrored by Serra, though less surprised and more in warning. So they all know each other, one way or another. And it's another echo of the past, Ada pursuing Umbrella assets. “Still working on the Umbrella case after all this time?”
Ada smiles. “That's classified.” She doesn't appear to be armed – not that she'd seemed willing to shoot Leon in Raccoon City either, but that was no reason to underestimate her. “And I don't want to leave empty-handed this time, so again – Back off.”
Leon responds with a low hiss and applying just a little more pressure to Serra, who wheezes a little. There's no way in hell Ada can make him let Serra go again.“Not happening.”
“How about a trade then?”Ada asks, unfazed. “You give me what I'm here for, and I'll give you what you're here for.”
Shit, he'd forgotten about the mission in the heat of the moment. “What do you know?” If she was involved in the kidnapping, it would be odd to hand her over like this.
“I'm just aware of it, the missing girl isn't my business,”Ada explains, giving just enough information to prove she isn't bluffing about knowing what Leon is here for. “Busy day for Los Illuminados,” she finishes dryly.
Dammit! Leon does not want to let Serra go, and Matilda is still anxious about whatever bug she's detecting. “You expect me to believe that? You're not involved but you just happen to know where she is?”
“Just around that corner, there's a door to a storage room with notes about where she's being kept.”Ada nods towards the corridor to the side of the church. “See for yourself.”
That was overly-generous of her. He could just drag Serra over to verify that Ada is telling the truth... and then drag him to wherever Ashley is after somehow getting Ada off his back. Dammit... just like 6 years ago, indeed. Leon has something she wants, and neither of them is willing to force the other to give it up. Only this time, Ada has the upper-hand and there's no walkway to fall apart under them to force a decision. It had been one thing to keep a hold of Serra while also getting to Ashley and then an evacuation point – adding Ada to the equation makes it all the more unlikely. He really is going to have to let Serra go.
“He made me into a monster, Ada.”He's not really expecting an emotional appeal to change her mind.
If she feels anything at all, she doesn't show it. “Monsters don't rescue kidnapped girls, Leon.”She moves towards Serra, sensing that Leon is about to finally give up. “Go be a hero.”
Tail lashing, Leon steps back, freeing Serra. “You'd better not be lying.”
“If I am, a thirty second head-start isn't going to help much.”Ada is already leading Serra towards the gate. “See you around, Leon.”
Leon growls and heads around the corner, determined to make it a twenty second head-start at best. As Ada said, the door is there, and Leon pushes through into the little room. Sure enough, there's another map and a message - “A pest from outside has come for the girl. Lock her in the church and await orders from our lord.”
No wonder Ada isn't worried about Leon chasing after them – Ashley is right here. Heading back to the front of the church, Leon sees what the note meant by locked, another sturdy metal gate keeping the front door secure. It's solid enough that Leon would have a hard time forcing his way through, probably at least as long as it would take to get to the key. Luckily, while the gate would keep out most people, Leon has advantages over those people, like being able to reach the attic window left open high up the wall.
With a little effort, Leon is inside the church, and steeling himself for the next hurdle – convincing a kidnapped girl that a monster is here to rescue her.
