Made a Tine! Her name is "Seeker" or "Ramdimirukam" Carver and I have been obsessed over this book/species for a while now.

Someone also asked me to make alien characters, so here is a Tine OC for A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge. The concept of Tines has always stuck with me even though I haven’t read the book in years.

Tines are a race of canine-like aliens that live in a medieval society in the galactic Slow Zone. Individually they have the intelligence of animals but using special organs they can telepathically communicate with each other when within a certain range. When a group of three or more Tines get together they form a human-level consciousness. Each individual brings in new memories and personality traits to the collective mind, and when they leave those leave with them. So a single collective mind will change over time as individuals come and go. The collective can live indefinitely as long as it has members.
