BACKSTORY -
She’s Thomas ‘Tommy’ Merlyn’s daughter and he trained her to be an archer like him (her grandfather, Malcolm Merlyn, helped a bit too)
She’s a year younger than Mia Dearden (16, sixteen) and the two of them cannot get along because Daphne’s father was going to hand Mia back to her father. It also doesn’t help that even after being taken in by Oliver Queen, she kept her father’s alias.
The reason for her leaving her father is essentially that she didn’t want to commit crimes anymore, she just wants to live her life and go to college but Tommy and Merlyn want her to be their successor. So she seeks out Oliver Queen (who she knows to be her dad’s old friend & Green Arrow), he takes her in. But like she just left Tommy and Merlyn (aged 16) so no one even knows if they can trust her because she was previously running around committing crimes
