My goal for this course was to learn more about music distribution. I wanted to be able to understand and further expand my knowledge on how to properly distribute our artist music. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this course very educational. It provided me more information about PROs and how to properly distribute and license music for my artist. It also gave me more information on how to properly create an EPK that will be professional and an accurate representation of my artist. It is also important that everything you do is a reflection of the artist brand.
One of the most important things I learned in this course how important it is to have the proper licenses for your artist music, a clear understanding of the distribution methods/aggregators and what works best for your artist, and how important it is to create an EPK that speaks professionally about your artist. Creativity, education, and implementation are a huge part of your artist success and you play a major role in it. It is important to educate our up-and-coming artist of all the available resources that they can seek for advice and guidance in order to ensure proper royalties are being paid and proper licensing is being obtained. Another thing that I learned was the difference between co-publishing deals and Admin deals. After the reading and research I would definitely suggest a co-publishing deal if I was asked for guidance.
This was an amazing course and the instructor was very knowledgeable. I had a lot of fun modifying and presenting the EPK that I created. I think that was the most fun part for me when it came to this course. I love being able to have the creative freedom and be able to present it for feedback. This will only make me a better manager and CEO in the long run.
