cvtaehyung:
âyeah sure, why the hell not?â he responds nonchalantly as if he doesnât bother him one bit. he raises one eyebrow in suspicion by the sudden question that was asked of him. âthat was random wasnât it? why do you feel like you need to know?â he questions, thinking hard about his answer. taehyung wasnât sure himself if he wanted to be serious or totally give her some vague answer to it. âof course i would, if it makes me feel less guilty. why?â
as frustrating as service jobs always were, there was something about them that bora enjoyed. aggravating customers and low pay aside, the different kinds of people that she encountered through working always made the troubles worth it in the end. though many people knew her for talking a mile a minute, that was only a recent development in her life, and being a homebody was true to her core-- without such opportunities, sheâd probably just sit at home and only talk to the few people that she called her friends. working the counter gave her the chance to branch out that she might not have willingly taken on her own.
granted, a lot of these people were ones that she didnât particularly enjoy the presence of, and probably wouldnât go out of her way to interact with if the truly didnât have to-- and in a way, taehyung was one of those people, but at the same time she couldnât help but find herself curious to figure out more about him. like with anyone, a million questions popped into her head that she demanded answers to, and though they were never incredibly personal questions, he was still one of the few that would actually answer them, even if he sounded less than enthused to do it. still, if she managed to work up from not getting an answer at all to getting a bored one, who was to say that something more than that wouldnât be achievable?Â
âi dunno, really. just curious how other people would handle it if they got the chance.â she shrugged in response. â but thereâs loopholes to it, you know--â bora paused and wiggled her finger in taehyungâs direction, lips pressed together into a tight âoâ to create (at least for herself, anyway) more suspense. âdoes it only erase it from your memory, and everyone else remembers? or does it erase the event completely from history? does it erase it and thatâs just it, or will this one event being gone completely change everything that has happened afterwards in your life, like a domino effect? with that in mind, would your answer stay the same?â

đ wicked brew.
She pretends to think about the question with a small smile on her face. âHm⌠Three? Or maybe a four?â she replies after a few minutes of thinking, a finger resting on her cheek and she furrows her eyebrows in mock-contemplation. Thereâs a hint of teasing in her voice and her cover is blown when her lips spreads out in a dimpled grin. âJust kidding. I trust you a whole lot.â
as easy as it is to fall into the idea that sheâll never improve in her abilities, that sheâs destined to be stuck in bottom-barrel roles for the rest of her life, she refuses to let that kind of pessimism dampen her mind. she tries to focus on the good, any good that might be-- how well she works when the cafe is busy, how much she enjoys replicating her favorite drinks and foods in latte form, and how maybe, maybe if she keeps at it enough, some sort of power from above will transfer her skills from her little part time job to her education. not everyone can move at the speed of lightning, and considering her track record when it comes to schooling, sheâs content with chugging along behind everyone else until the time is right. some things simply arenât meant to happen instantly, and in the meantime sheâs fine with mixing drinks and keeping people happy.
âwell no, i didnât mean--â bora cuts herself off, not finding correcting herself to be worth the effort. if wheein is willing to agree, itâs no help to her if she gives the younger one an opportunity to change her mind. now is her chance, and if she doesnât put it to good use sheâll have to wait until her next work shift, and who knows if the idea will stay as crystal clear in her head as it is now. (actually she does know-- and it wonât, because she can feel it slipping from her already.) the blonde pouted, letting out a dejected whimper before turning her line of vision back to the rack in front of her-- partially to feign offence to wheeinâs statement, but also to continue her plotting. âyou do? good! now donât look at me. donât even peek.â she points a finger at the witch, eyes narrowed to show that she means business this time around.
silly as it sounds, keeping her motives hidden only makes the somewhat boring task all the more exciting for her. steaming milk and making espresso has become a top-secret task, all of which she aims to complete in the next five minutes, before wheein loses her interest entirely or worse, turns around just to correct her. after some deliberation, she squeezes a few pumps of syrup here and there into the cup, tops it with whipped cream and a lid, and turns back to face her coworker. âwheein! try this and tell me what you think it tastes like.â
mapless mysteries đ kjh & ybr
âhm, i think youâre right, though iâm the type to trust my instincts,â she says, her eyebrows furrowing. âwhich is a problem because i have none at the moment.â she contemplates what bora said, not quite remembering any mossy stuff, then again, sheâs always been more of a big picture kind of person, only minding the details when sheâs interested in them. âuh, yeah, you may be right! if anything, weâll end up here again and then we can just try the other way. hey!â she exclaims, an idea coming to her. âhow about we mark this place somehow? or the way weâre following so we would know that we have been here if we end up in another circle. like, maybe look for stones and write something out, orâŚ?âÂ
had she picked anyone else to explore with, bora figures that she either would be dealing with someone with a much more panicked demeanor, or someone that would be ready to blow her ears off about how reckless sheâs been acting-- neither of which she wants to deal with today (or ever), making her all the more grateful that jiho is the person that sheâs brought along today. as soon as they get out of this mess, sheâs determined to buy her dinner or dessert or something quick to make up for it, as  big thanks for her time and patience.
âwell, next time we know to bring a portable charger.â for her at least, thereâs definitely a next time-- getting lost only gives her the impression that thereâs more to the caves that sheâs yet to see, and some of the sights that theyâve passed by already would be perfect for her paintings. sound logic and caution has never been a part of the bora way, and even as sheâs literally in the face of potential danger right now, sheâs sticking to her guns on it. as bad as it might be right now, at least she can say that it definitely could be worse. thereâs no fire, no risk of drowning, no monsters or demons lurking in the shadows for their chance to pounce, no masked murders chasing after their tails-- so really, once she puts it that way, it isnât all too bad. just like when she got lost around campus during her first week at baridegi, except a thousand times less humiliating.Â
bora nods slowly. going with her gut always seems to work well, but sometimes the best plan is the one that goes against all expectations and instincts. âwhat do we really have to lose, right? besides more time, i guess.â she agreed with a shrug, deciding to take the comment as a solid yes to her suggestion. only seconds later does she loosen her grasp on jihoâs arm, eyes lit up in awe at the suggestion given. why hasnât she thought of this already? every time she thinks that she has a solid plan, jihoâs right behind her, thinking of something even better to add onto it, and it still amazes her time and time again. âoh! i have some... lip tint in my pocket. i dunno how well itâll show up, but itâs still something?â
kneeling down, bora fishes through her pockets in search of the plastic tube. once she finds it she pauses, somewhat reluctant to continue-- now that she realizes, it probably wonât show up that well, nor does she want to waste her makeup on a dirty rock that sheâs then going to rub all over her lips. talk about gross. eventually she decides to squeeze a glob of the gloss into her finger, then use that to write on the rock walls, filling in a heart and a small smiley face with what remained on her fingers. âsomething like that, yeah?â she asks, turning to jiho for approval. after some studying she figures that eh, itâll be alright so long as the oils donât start to fade off by the time they make a loop around-- or if they make a loop around, which hopefully wonât be a problem.
âbrilliant! so weâre gonna go left, and keep going left-- wait, and maybe do a right in there somewhere, because all lefts is a circle. and hopefully THAT wonât somehow be a circle too, and if it is, then weâll just...â her train of thought fades away as she looks around them, attempting to think up a plan b, only to come up blank. she waves her hand carelessly, as if to dismiss the topic all together, and grabs jiho once again to start leading her in the direction of what would hopefully be their escape. âweâll just worry about that later! my gutâs telling me that weâre onto something... either that, or itâs a craving.â
evergreen.
cvtaemin:
âYou should make me a flower crown, I think Iâd look charming.â he mused out, a smile quirking into place, eyes cracking open and his head lolling to the side to glance her way as he said it, unsure of whether she would poke fun at him about it or not. âWhatâs been up with you though, anything fun? Dramatic? Third, undefined option?â he asked her, rolled onto his side with a groan, tucked his face into the crook of his elbow and waited for an answer.
Moments like this reminded Bora of her time spent in Sydney with her family, where many days after their schooling was over were spent lounging around in the stretch of field behind their house. Compared to now, it felt like a much simpler time-- the only worries that plagued her were catching up to her siblings during their schooling sessions at home, and the only true responsibility she had weighing on her back was working her way up the ranking on her swim team. It was a whole decade later, and almost like she was living a completely different life, away from everyone she grew up around and with the knowledge of being a witch rather than the token outsider in her family. Naturally, she still had her issues with adjusting to the shift, which made times like now all the more special to her.
One of the first things sheâd noticed upon her arrival were some of the less than optimistic attitudes of the classmates around her. It was yet another feeling of alienation that she was already used to, but part of her couldnât help but wonder how different might she have turned out had she grown up with the knowledge of magic and her true being like the rest of them had. Making friends never became a difficult task for her, but she gained an appreciation for people like Taemin who were willing to make room for her despite outward differences. After all, anyone that was willing to listen to her constant ramblings deserved all the awards.
Chuckling softly, Bora lifted her head from its spot in the grass to look around for the perfect plants to use. âI hope a dandelion crown will work just fine.â Even for something so charming (but also, so temporary), she couldnât bring herself to destroy the nature around them. In her eyes, at least pulling weeds would be somewhat helping out. Humming to herself, she slowly began to weave together the stems as she debated the question. âMm-- I think... Third.â The harder she thought, she could barely even remember anything remarkable about her week. âI found a bunch of oil paints in my room... I dunno if I bought âem and forgot, or if I just didnât know that I had âem all along? Now I feel like I have to do something with them soon... But my classes have been so-- bleh, I canât even doodle anything nice on my notes. Iâm all doodled out! I wonder.... Is there some sort of spell for creativity?â She paused, eyes lit up with inspiration for a short moment until she thought more on it, her expression quickly dulling down. âI probably wouldnât even be able to figure it out, anyway. Wish I could just have both.â
đ wicked brew.
bora could never understand how potions made her want to put her head through a wall, but mixing drinks came to her with ease. from a general sense, the two werenât much different-- a plus b plus c equals something amazing, but if you double up on a or leave out c or add in elusive ingredient d, you have a disaster on your hands. it was one of those mysteries she could never solve, but only hope that like with drink making, her potion making skills would come to her with time.Â
âare you more of a tea or coffee person?â she asked her coworker, attention focused on the rack of syrups and add-ins for some sudden inspiration. âlemme guess, coffee? sometimes i feel like one of the only people in the world that doesnât love the stuff... but i guess thatâs okay, since iâm not really supposed to be drinking it in the first place.â every time that she ever gave the beverage a try, she dumped so much sugar and cream in it that it could barely be called coffee anymore, and it left her feeling more sluggish and worn down than she was to begin with. it kind of sucked, since copious coffee drinking often went hand in hand with dedicated artists or hours of cramming sessions, both of which she participated in (or at least attempted to, when it came to the second task).Â
finally, her eyes locked onto the perfect base for her creation, but she still needed to convince wheein to go along with her plan. there wasnât anything wrong with testing out drinks, but when it came to something that she couldnât drink, there needed to be someone that actually wanted to taste it on her behalf. her lips curled up into a smirk, and she turned her head in the otherâs direction, locking eyes with the younger girl. âon a scale of one to ten, how much would you say that you trust me? seven, maybe eight?â // @cvwheein
đ distractions.
there werenât many times when the cafe wasnât filled with students, but when it was slow, it was unbearably slow. it was those times that bora dreaded the most-- the fast pace was what helped her work so well, and with that element removed, she was reduced to wiping the same spot on the counter over and over, organizing and relabeling product, or yapping the ears off whoever was nearby when there was truly nothing left for her to occupy her time with.
between the end of classes and dinnertime was one of those slow times, and for the past ten minutes bora had been hiding out by the pantry, browsing through inspiration boards on her phone to keep herself from being lulled into a coma. how anyone could even want to work a whole day at this pace, she would probably never understand. the jingle of bells as someone stepped through the cafe doors was one of the best sounds that she couldâve asked for, and without a moment of hesitation, she raced back to the counter to be of assistance.
it wasnât something that she often did, but the lack of tasks for her to do was enough for bora to bring the finished drink to taehyungâs table instead of calling him up to the counter to retreive it. âyouâre not busy, are you? mind if i join you for a bit?â she asked, before seating herself across from him anyway. there were no books in his hands or anything of that sort, so she was willing to assume that the answer was obvious. âiâve been thinking about this for a while... if you had the chance to erase any one memory from your existence, would you do it?â // @cvtaehyung

cvjiho:
âoh,â she says, hesitant. âi think we got lost,â she continues, trying to hit a casual tone but it does worry her a little; what if they ventured too deep inside the caves and canât find their way out? âthis is pretty scary,â she frowns, looking up at the older. âdo you think we should try to find our way back or just look around more? as pretty as this place is, i really donât want to rot here.â she thinks for a second, her head tilting to the side. âthough actually, it would be a pretty good legacy! imagine someone coming here a thousand years later only to find our skeleton! we would become famous!â
bora tries not to let the current situation worry her. being lost is a temporary state-- technically theyâre still on school grounds, and certainly theyâre not the first set of people to go exploring, right? for every problem thereâs always a solution, and they simply needed to find that solution before it got too dark, or before they got too hungry. easy, peasy. their wit and creativity combined should be enough to pull them through this, and if all else fails, she can only hope that someone will take notice of their absence and send out a search party. most people should already expect bora to have herself tangled up in something sheâs not supposed to if she canât be found, anyway.
âthatâs okay,â she answers calmly, hoping it will be enough to keep jiho calm and encouraged as well. she may be the oldest between the two of them, but she doesnât trust herself to handle high-stress scenarios well. âthey could put our skeletons in some sort of baridegi museum or something... weâd be like school legends or something.â she ponders with laughter in her voice. she canât deny that itâs a cool idea, but not the kind of fate that she wants to succumb herself to when thereâs so much of her life thatâs still so inexperienced. once again she pulls out her phone, clicking on the lock screen to help her determine what route might be the best to take. of course, her mobile service is slim to none, but she doesnât let that discourage her. âwell, my battery is only at seventy percent. at least we have that, right?â if she rations right, itâll last them for the last few hours, and she wants to think that theyâll be back in the comfort of their rooms by then.
keeping her grip on the device, she focuses her line of view on the pool of water in front of them. there has to be some sort of circle that theyâve been going through, considering how theyâve passed the small lake at least twice already. the first step is finding their way out of that loop, even if it means pushing further into the maze. maybe itâll be just like one of those puzzle books, where they enter on one side and come out the other! with a firm nod, bora confirms to herself that thisâll be the trick that they try first, then links her arm with jihoâs. the last thing they need is to lose each other, while already being beyond lost.
âhere, letâs try this way,â she suggests, pointing to her left with her free hand. âi always want to go right, but i think if we just turn left instead of right, maybe thatâll help. itâs something like that, right? some trick thatâs supposed to help with solving those puzzle mazes or something... i canât remember. but i donât remember seeing that mossy stuff over there.â she waits for jihoâs response before tugging her that way. theyâre supposed to be a team in this mess, and if thereâs anyone she trusts to have a better idea than her, jiho is that person.

âwhat if youâre a halfie? and the reason why you canât hold it forever is because youâre only half-mermaidâŚâ she lets herself trail off, her thoughts once again returning to boraâs tail. indeed, if she was a halfie, that would explain why she has never seen her fin, too. what a shame, though! what good is there about having mermaid blood flow in your veins if you canât even grow a fin? âwellâ  i would reaaaally like to see it, thoughâŚâ she blinks, her eyelashes batted in a pleading manner, fingers laced together and her head supported by her intertwined hands.Â
bora can only stick out her tongue in disagreement, a childish âblechâ sound leaving her lips to properly make her disgust apparent. sheâs never been a big picky eater, not besides the things that she genuinely canât eat, but when she hates a food, that hatred runs deep. âavocado just tastes like mushy green dirt to me-- not that i know what dirt tastes like.â she chuckles at her blunder, tucking loose blonde locks behind her ear. nope, no gills there either. who knew what sounded like such an easy mission would be so hard? âa gills magnet, hm... it sounds kinda silly now, but i get in 100 years, itâll be the most innovative little gadget out there!â she could feel the excitement all the way down in her toes at the thought. âthereâll probably be all this cool stuff to explore the ocean with. as soon as we have space all figured out, i hope thatâs where we look next. thereâs so much that we havenât explored just on this planet, can you imagine?â smiling fondly at the younger girl, she leans in to nuzzle against her.
she lets out a soft gasp as she begins to rethink everything that she thought she was so sure about. how has she never considered there being more to it than her just possibly being a mermaid? after all, she humored the idea of being a human for most of her life just to find out that she was a witch. itâs only lead her to believe that literally anything is possible, and no one can sway her from that. âno, i can just hold my breath for a long time. but i mean, i guess iâve never properly tried?â she makes a mental note to test this breathing underwater thing out the next time she goes swimming, whenever that time may be. one eyebrow arches up at jihoâs suggestion, and she simply chuckles, shaking her head faintly. âanythingâs possible when you donât know your parents, right? maybe iâm half mermaid, half witch! then it would explain why i canât figure out all these spells and stuff... i always thought that maybe i was a child of poseidon or something. but i think that was a little too hopeful.â bora shrugs nonchalantly before shooting jiho another gin. âif my fin ever pops up, youâll be the first person i call, okay? i trust you to keep it a secret.â
clear eyes đ msn & ybr
âi would assume thatâs what they look like.  i canât see anything, so maybe theyâre transparent. either that, or these people are going nuts.â  the pat on her head worked as signal to squat down once more, letting the blonde climb off of her perch, âno way, youâre like a feather.  just a feather that i donât want to carry around for the rest of the night.â
it was a little disappointing, but not at all unexpected, to find that there wasnât really a reason to everyoneâs suspicions. though bora could understand being fearful of something that was a clear sign of death, why bother fighting the inevitable? death was going to happen, and it didnât always have to be some dreary, fearful moment. âjust because theyâre dead? thatâs a little silly.â she frowned slightly, feeling far more sympathy for the dead than ever before. âsee, i bet they just really want to party. or maybe they just want to see their family again.. make amends, get answers. wouldnât we all, if we had that chance in the afterlife?â
bora shrugged. she figured that her comparison might not have been all that right or powerful, but it still got the point across as far as she was concerned. âi was private tutored for middle school. didnât actually get to see what that was like. but i still imagine that tree elves are worse than mean middle schoolers.â she nodded firmly, only stopping from her tangent so she could focus on lowering herself to the ground without making a tragic mess of herself. a heavy sigh of disappointment leaves her lips, shoulders heaving in a dramatic manner. how typical, the one thing that she found truly exciting during the evening was turning out to be nothing more than rumors. âaw, you donât? i would carry you around all night long if you asked me to, cat form or not. iâd even swim with you on my back!â she sticks out her tongue in sanaâs direction before reaching for her hand, lacing her fingers between the younger girlâs. âso thereâs not much else going on here, huh? should we just get going? iâve been wanting actual tea all night long...â

heizecv:
âI want to try it.â Her answer is ( contrary to most of her babbling ) very clear, and she adds to it by firmly nodding her head. A very dumb thing to do, really. What with the alcohol and potion being mixed and rushing through her system, she took forever in stabilizing herself again, tightly holding onto the femaleâs arm. Confusion shuts her up for a moment, but the grin is back on her face as soon as she looks back up at Bora. âI really liked that potion.. Do you think we could get another? After we try to hold up this dress. You want to dance too, right? Letâs both dance!â
It was odd to see Dahye more smile-y and cheerful than she even was in the moment. The potions were stronger than she wouldâve assumed them to be, and that only made her all the more reluctant to have one anywhere near her lips. There was no way an artificial mood maker could be consequence free-- even with all the new, magical truths sheâd been exposed to, that was one thing that she would refuse to believe. Of course, it wasnât her problem at the end of the day, but it wouldnât stop her from worrying a bit.
âI would think so. As long as your dress isnât too stiff or a lot of fabric, it should work just fine.â But what did she know? She was a painter, not a fashionista. If the simple idea was enough to keep Dahye satisfied, there was nothing stopping her from putting in the effort for it. Nodding, Bora moved to tug the beige holder out of her own hair and hand it to the other. âJust pull some of it up into a knot, and tie the holder around it, and it should lift the dress off the ground some,â she instructed, only to pause. With the way that Dahye was gripping onto her, she wasnât sure if it would go over well to let her bend over. âI can do it for you, if you want.â
Bora couldnât contain the snort that rose up from Dahyeâs offer. In this moment they were holding onto each other and dancing, but by the next day theyâd go back to pretending that each other didnât exist. âAh, I donât think you want me to dance with you... I have two left feet, Iâd ruin your nice shoes and step all over your toes.â Letting out a quiet chuckle, she tapped at the girlâs shoulder in a playful manner. âBut if you want me to dance, I can try to dance with you.â

she shifted her position to hold on to the blondeâs legs, keeping her still on her back, âman, those elves sound nasty.  iâve never met one, but i donât think i want to.â  the younger let out a hum of agreement, trying her best to peek through the crowds of students, âright.  let the dead guys party, i say.  speaking of, do you see anything up there?â
the mention of the novel piqued her interest, and she prepared herself for an explanation that would actually make sense to her, rather than the monologues and foreign terms that everyone else gave to her. it seemed to have slipped some peopleâs minds that not everyone was raised with the same awareness and knowledge as they were, but bora would never outwardly complain. she had no problems with jumping into something blind if she had to-- after all, she did move to korea with not a single understanding of the language. âah...â so ghosts werenât some wise, respected creatures. or rather, they werenât considered to be. âbut why? do they do bad things? or are people just scared to be scared?â still, it didnât stop her from wanting to see a ghost in the flesh-- or not flesh, considering.
âtheyâre like little, vindictive children. theyâre like... middle schoolers, but amped up on emotional hormones and with a big love for pranks and seeing pain.â she let out a huff of frustration. she wouldnât call herself a discriminatory person, but getting lost in a foreign country due to antics that she was absolutely positive about left her with a little bit of a grudge. ânope, nothing... should i be looking for translucent, floaty thingies, or is that another lie that life has taught me?â quickly growing bored, she patted gently at sanaâs head with both hands. âyou can let me down if you want to. i bet iâm probably not all that light.â
