the “not like other girls” narrative is extremely harmful. by demonizing feminine traits, we are not encouraging girls to take on their own identity; we’re telling them that they need to change their interests. you’re valid if you wear black and have tattoos and dyed hair. you’re valid if you like pink and have blonde hair. you’re valid if you’re shy and quiet. you’re valid if you’re boisterous and funny. just because the box isn’t basic feminine traits, doesn’t mean the box disappears. let. girls. live.
