â : What drew you to the character you currently play? What types of characters are you generally drawn to?
(Also hello! ^^/)
Hello! I've answered this a couple times, namely here and here and because I'm longwinded, I will spare you another essay lol.
I write a lot of silly, sassy characters. Characters that on the surface seem chill or organized and together, but are absolutely not.
My favorite characters in fiction are, tragically, often the biggest jerks lol (Bakugo). I think they usually have the more interesting, dynamic character arcs. Also a huge fan of the morally gray, because I've experienced very little obviously good or obviously bad and can understand the gray zone a lot better. Genuinely do not trust people or characters who are always convinced they are Good and Right.

for the price of a cup of coffee
@digiauthorenergize
Hikari was thrilled to be able to go outside, to see something of the world besides her bedroom and the small apartment she shared with her brother and parents. She had been stuck there for over a week, unable to even go to school, until her doctor gave her the clear to return Monday. But it wasnât Monday yet, her brother had argued. Taichi had watched over her like a hawk, as usual. She begged one of his friends to help her, and they lured him outside with something they knew he couldnât resist: a soccer match between his grade and the one above.
Once she was outside though, she didnât really know what to do with herself. She had to avoid the park where the boys played, and she didnât have school⌠She wasnât even in clubs right now. She was absent too often. So she went the only place she could think of: the little coffee shop that sat on a corner a few blocks away. She could walk there without getting too winded, and she could sit there for hours. Some of the baristas had learned she liked sweet things but couldnât have them often, and they would try make tea mixes that tasted like desserts. But she had learned them all. Except there was someone different behind the counter today. Someone she had seen before, but now he was out of place. He wasnât in his usual window seat with his laptop, across the cafe from her. He was talking to another customer, smiling. It made her feel like she was eavesdropping on something private, and she moved to step back and walk back out, but a line had already begun to form behind her. She felt stuck.
Then the other customer was gone, and it was her at the front of the line, not at all knowing what she wanted besides âout of my roomâ. Sheâd just pick a basic tea, she told herself. Just the first one her eyes landed on. Instead of an order, however, she blurted out, âWhy are you here?â
She wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole.
He laughed, tapping through the menu on the touch pad to the tea selections. Her eyes were wide, like sheâd been caught doing something âbadâ by a teacher. She was back! It felt like years since heâd last seen her, even though it couldnât have been. He was starting to think sheâd moved, and while it would have been a great ending to a story it wasnât the kind of missed connection he wanted to experience. But heâd been given a chance! The perfect chance to make a good impression on the girl without having to awkwardly approach her table. The exact kind of chance heâd hoped for. Takeru gestured to the apron he was sporting. âI work here,â he replied injecting his voice with all the warmth of two good friends meeting in an unexpected place despite not knowing her name. âSo do you want the usual special? We did get a new tea base in I think youâre really going to like! If you hate it I can buy you a replacement after my shift.â That last bit might have been a little forward, but after so many coffee trips of glancing at her instead of writing he had to know more about her.
âYou do not,â she said doubtfully, even as all evidence pointed to the contrary. âI know everyone who works here.â Or at the very least, everyone working there seemed to know her. Some of them were friends with their brother, and some of them were just told âSheâs fine, leave her aloneâ when they wanted her to give up her table.
âOh, but um...â Maybe she should have stayed home after all. She was making a good, proper mess of her first outing in forever. There was nice, cool air blowing down from the vents over the dining area, but her face felt hot as though she were standing over a stove. âThe um, usual? Sounds fine. Iâm sure itâs fine.â

its-your-lightâ:
âI donât think there are enough snacks in the world to fill V-mon,â Hikari said over her shoulder. She laughed as V-mon pulled on their arms like a child. This had been exactly the kind of reaction she had expected, though, and she hoped it would distract Daisuke from the clock for a little bit.
âOoh, look. Theyâre little crème brulee sweets,â Hikari said, lifting a small package and inspecting it. âHow cute!â
She pushed a bag of gummy candies into Daisukeâs hand. âYou have to give those to Mimi. She always brings us sweets.â
She giggled as V-mon pushed more candies into Daisukeâs hands, probably more than Daisuke would approve, before he ran off to the next table. His eyes were wide with excitement.
âMaybe wait till he gets off the plane till he can have any,â she suggested. âHe might take the whole thing down, bouncing off the walls.â
V-mon kept grabbing a bunch of candy and throwing it in the cart he now got from somewhere after seeing Daisuke is a pile of packages in his hands.
âToo much sugar for a dragon digimon is too much for a whole plane tripâ Daisuke sighed, and slowly tried to return said candy packages to their places.
âOoh, Choco-Eggsâ he heard V-monâs voice.
âCrème Brulee seems hard to make⌠But I never tried it beforeâŚ? Is it good?â
âDAISUKE DAISUKE DAISUKE!â
âHm? Whatâs it V-mon?â
âCHOCO EGGS!â V-mon eyes were shining again, holding a package with chocolate in egg format. It was V-monâs favorite candy a long time ago, and seems like it kept being.
âThat doesnât seem to be a Wonder Capsule, those are out of production from agesâŚâ He wondered, âI guess itâs the one you saw at the market days agoâŚ?â
âCHOCO CHOCO CHOCO!â
âOk ok, I will get you one.â
âYAY!!â
âDo you want those?â he looked at Hikari, then to Tailmon âTailmon doesnât want anythingâŚ?â
Hikari tapped a finger against her cheek, trying to figure out how to answer Daisukeâs question. âitâs like... caramel? But only part of it is hard, like a candy. The rest is soft.... like purin?â She shrugged and dropped her hand. âYouâd like it, I think.â
She got distracted briefly, watching V-monâs eyes go wide. She couldnât help but smile, even though the digimonsâ reactions to sweets (and most food, if she were being honest) were well known to them now. She appreciated the enthusiasm and the innocence of it. She knew Tailmon enjoyed snacks too, but pretended to be above childish delight. Hikariâs favorite moments were when Tailmon forgot herself.
âWhat do you think,â Hikari asked her, looking down. Tailmon blended in slightly better than V-mon, if only because she looked like a strange cat instead of.... well, something draconian.Â
âChocolate,â they said at the same time. Hikari laughed and then began the task of piecing through the selection, which even narrowed down was still quite a lot. Snacks were a serious business.
âItâs strange,â Hikari said, picking up a package to inspect the variety inside. It said flavors, but nothing indicating what they might be, and she found herself both curious and concerned. She set it back down. âSaying goodbye to you. Not goodbye,â she reminded herself out loud after the memory of Miyakoâs scolding came to mind. âSee you later. I always see you, and soon we wonât. As often, anyway.â Miyako had managed, after all. The world seemed both smaller and much larger as long as there was a computer and a gate.
Koushiro: Wait, you knew about Miyakoâsâs crush?
Ken: Yeah, itâs kind of hard to not notice it.
Koushiro: But you never said anything about it!
Ken: I thought it was the polite thing to do?
Ken: Like everyone politely ignores that Mimi comes from a wealthy family, no one knows Jouâs parents, Iori is an android, Takeruâs mom is dating Soraâs mom, Taichi is always disappearing to have make-out sessions with Yamato, Hikari was switched at birth, Mimi has a huge woman crush with Miyako and Meiko lying every time she breaths.
Koushiro: Wait⌠What was that in the middle?
Ken: I know, right? Who wouldâve thought that Taichi and Yamato were gay for each other?

Iâve been a bit obsessed with cakes recently. Fulfilling my bakery dreams one drawing at a time.
Etsy Shop
(@its-your-light continued from here)
Takeru spun back to her, tossing his arms exasperatedly into the air, his book bag thumping against his back as though mimicking his annoyance. "I'm going. to. fucking. kill them" he spat every word. There was fire inside him and it burned, all his muscles were taught in their attempt to keep the flames inside. "I just want to-" what? strangle? punch? He settled for making a crushing motion with his hands. "They're like a swarm of Sukamon! I don't know how people put up with their gossip and shitty attitudes." He let out a frustrated growl and turned into a nearby park, flopping down on a bench (yes it did hurt) and tossing his backpack to his feet. "This might be actual hate. I might actually hate people for the first time in my life."
She wanted to ask if he had been taking drama lessons from her brother and Mimi, but she swallowed the tease. Hikari had so many boisterous friends, she had learned that rants often burned themselves out. But every time she thought Takeru was done, he would find more fuel for his fire.
She still didnât know who them was, though. âTakeru...â
But he didnât seem to hear her.
And then suddenly, she thought it made sense. The only thing she thought could get him so angry was a threat towards Patamon. And she understood. So many times, the city had turned against Digimon, only to celebrate them later... and then, it seemed, forget. They tried to do so much good, but the best they could hope for in return was quiet.
âOh,â she said quietly. âIâve heard them tooâ They werenât very shy about it. The news channels even fed them the lines. She shook her head. âItâs cruel. I donât understand people like that.â She watched a frown while he dropped himself onto a bench before sitting next to him, tucking her bag into her lap and wrapping her arms around it. âYou hated Kaiser, though.â It was easier than saying Ken, even though she had felt the same. âBecause he didnât want to understand either.â
"The Kaiser turned out to just be a kid" his leg bounced with irritated energy. A kid who thought the source of nightmares was a power up, but still a kid. "They're not! They have other stuff they should be worried about!"
Takeru knew he shouldn't be this riled up. In the grand scheme of things it was nothing. Sure, his mom had been busy chasing down another story and forgot to submit the paperwork to the school before the beginning of the year but that was no reason for the staff not to believe him, and certainly no reason for those assholes to try and corner him in the locker room after basketball practice. He'd probably end up just quitting this year, it wasn't worth the trouble. Maybe they all had Dark Spores too, wouldn't that be convenient?
"Honestly it's common sense if you think about it. And it's not like anybody's getting hurt." He grumbled, trying to wrestle the feelings back into some semblance of their normal box. He'd have to remind his mom about the paperwork again.
"Sorry this just. It's really frustrating. I thought we were done with this."
She turned on the bench so that she was facing him properly, frowning. âI donât think thatâs fair, to say they shouldnât be worried... I just wish they would ask more questions, you know? They use such a broad brush, and in trying to tell a story, they donât tell THE story.â Hikari paused for a moment before saying, âNo offense to your mom or anything.â
But somewhere along the way, her replies and his responses had stopped clicking into place, like he wasnât really hearing her. She opened her mouth to say something, thought better of it, and closed it again without a word. They were quiet for a couple minutes before she finally worked up the nerve.
âWe are talking about how theyâre talking about the digimon on the news again, arenât we? Theyâve been so brutal recently, even my momâs commented.â
Shit. He felt himself freeze for a split second. "u-Yeah! I meant like, our partners have protected Tokyo so many times you'd think they'd learn by now" he tried to cover. "Mom can only write so many articles, but if they don't get enough traction then she's kind of stuck." The words tumbled out without much thought, but he was pretty sure that tied in correctly? Oh god this was a mess. "Hey how about we grab some snacks and hang out in the digital world this weekend? I'm sure Patamon and Tailmon could use the recharge."
He said yes, but something in his tone made her frown anyway. The conversation was so strange. Anyway, she liked Takeruâs mom, so maybe it was safer to steer the conversation in another direction anyway. She didnât want to put him in a position where he felt he had to say something unkind about his own mom.
âThis weekend sounds fun,â she said, linking her fingers together and stretching her arms overhead. âBut I could really go for some ice cream right now. And I think you can, too.â She let her arms fall and raised her eyebrows. âYou can tell me what happened after class on the way.â
