Maybe the fandom’s strong and delighted reaction to Poe and Rey’s meeting is because after 2 hours of watching her interact with an emotionally manipulative fuckboy (”You’re nothing— but not to me”) to see her have a positive and healthy interaction with a man who clearly recognizes how amazing she is (”I’m Rey” “I know!”) feels like a million love letters.
Think about how these two interactions mirror each other, and yet one is diminishing and the other one is validating her as a person.
Like, yes, it’s just a little scene but the comparison with everything preceding it makes it feel huge.
So, like, my point is that even if it’s a million years away from canon right now, Poe/Rey is still a million times better than R*ylo.
Doesn’t mean fans of the ship wouldn’t love stormpilot, obviously Poe/Finn would be the ideal but this is Disney and I’m hoping for at least a happy healthy medium.
