Dust in the Wind, Dude

“Yeah, i’m fine. I think my body was just telling me to slow down or something.” She looked at him with a small smile. “That’s sweet, but you don’t have to go out of your way for me.”

“N-no better way to slow down than t-to sit down, I i-insist.” He smiled, nodding his head in a motion of persistence. “Have you got any water on you?”

I’m okay, i’m okay. Just got a little woozy is all.

"Are y-you sure? You can have m-my seat,” he told her, standing up and knocking his knee awkwardly against the table.

“Y’know, when I was a kid, my dad used to blow on my food to cool it down before letting me have it. You should try doing that.” He pressed his lips together briefly. “You all good now?”

“Y-yeah, I g-guess I just got impatient.” He shrugged. “Yeah, I’m f-fine. Thanks for the water, again.”

“Jesus, what did you eat? A fucking radiator?” Cliff passed over a glass of water, furrowing his brows all the wild. “Here.”

Ollie took the glass from the boy and gulped it down “Th-thanks.”

Harley jumped, turning around in her seat. “Oh ow! That sounds like it hurt, man. Are you alright?”

He nodded, covering his mouth with his hand as he washed it down with some water. “Y-yeah, I’m fine.”

“Bad news then, You’re not gonna be able to taste your food right or at all depending on how badly you just burned your tongue. But silver lining, if you’re not starving you can just wait a few hours. Hey, are you like… okay? I mean you kind of look like you’re about to hurl or something. If you are, advanced warning would be appreciated.” 

“Ah, y-yeah, you’re right. I’m patient enough with most things, just not food.”  He nodded. “I’m okay,” he shot her a small smile, attempting to prove his okay-ness.

“So do you want the bad news or do you want me to lie to you?” Emi asked, leaning forward, propping her head up on her hand.

“Whatever you’re m-most comfortable saying, I guess.” He shrugged, if he was being honest, he’d prefer neither of the two, take his food and run.

Emi wanted to laugh as she saw the outcome from a mile away, his food was steaming hot, yet the stranger went right into it. “I debated warning you but I guess I was too late. If it makes you feel any better my brother’s done that way too many times.” 

He managed to finally get his food down and quickly took a large gulp of water. Before he could make any kind of quick escape, though, someone decided to talk to him. “Uh, I m-mean, my mouth still hurts... i-if that’s what you mean by feeling any better.”

“If I weren’t a man of exceptional morals,” Chuck shot Teddy an amused glance, because they both knew that wasn’t exactly accurate, and continued, “I’d seduce her and give you your opening, but alas, looks like you’re stuck with me.”

Teddy let out a chuckle. “If only you weren’t such a saint, man.” He let out an exaggerated sigh. “I mean, it sucks, but you are someone I can definitely live with- and then some.”

“stains I can live with but a shriveled up dick? Holy shit that’s horrible.”

“Yeah, dude. You know how it gets when you jump into really cold water? I guess snow cone would do the same thing.”

it’s all fun and games until you drop a snow cone on your new pair of shorts. 

“Oh no, dude! You’re gonna get shrivel dick and  syrup stains in your pants!”
