âi know, hyung. i wasnât trying to make you feel bad about it. you work really hard.â he just wished he didnât have to, was all. jihan tipped the side of his head against jiwooâs shoulder the next time he came swaying into him. âmhmm, i did see your momâs prescription come in. if you took a shift last night, you have to have today off, right? i can bring it over to you during my break tonight so you wonât have to come back out to pick it up.â
and before jiwoo could cut in, he looked at him sharply. âand i accept payment in the form of pots of coffee, which is a neat coincidence, right? so weâll get to your house, you give me my payment in advance, and then you sleep, and iâll see you again in twelve hours. okay? okay.â he patted jiwooâs arm and began to guide him along a crosswalk. ânow. your worst customer of the day. go.â
jiwoo side eyed him. âyouâre a pain in my ass, you know that.â he said bluntly as he hooked his arm under jihanâs and they walked down the sidewalk, although there wasnât a whole lot of meanness behind it. jihan was right, even though sometimes jiwoo genuinely wondered if his insightfulness was on purpose like a question of what was scarier, jihan saying things that were true completely on accident or jihan being a good lie detector.
he looked straight ahead as jihan continued to speak, lips clammed together when jihan talked about seeing his motherâs prescription and offering to bring it to him. âwhat, like youâre gonna come to my place during your break? thatâs in the middle of the night.â and true, yeah, they were all pretty nocturnal at this point, but he still worried whenever it was just one of them alone. and jihan especially? he ignored jihanâs attempt to block any refusal from his side and tried to find a compromise. âwhy donât you just drop it off after your shift? my mom wonât need them until the morning anyway. iâll still make you coffee at home and iâll make you coffee tomorrow morning too when you come.â
he let jihan lead to help appease him, remembering how many times before he would try to change his mind about helping and fail since jihan was miraculously as stubborn as him. âworst customer of the day? he came after my shift ended and walked me home.â he said lightly, nudging jihan in the side. he seemed a little distracted, although jiwoo couldnât tell if it was because he was thinking about his mom or if there was something else on his mind. ânah, it was this asshole who said he didnât have the right number of waffles in his meal or whatever, even though i literally watched him eat them right before he came up to the counter.â
he shook his head. if he started thinking about it again, he was going to start getting annoyed again for no reason. âyou?â he asked jihan, looking down at him. âfinally cussed anyone out yet?â
