what if we lived in the shadows of our respective leaders and our loyalty/lack of loyalty to them became the thing that defined us to the point we forget who we are outside of being soldiers and then we’re isolated from society for years and years and by the time we come back everything and everyone has changed and forgiven people for things that weren’t theirs to accept apologies for and we’re expected to do the same without being afforded the same time to heal that they had. what if one of us was able to move on and accept change while the other couldn’t. what if we saw the worst and best of ourselves in the other. what if.
