Nonbinary Stags

I agree, I just have to find some...I may end up making two (or more) separate playlists of different kinds of music, such as one more upbeat and/or badass, and one more chill. That way I can make more people happy. Only problem is I feel stag energies are more tied to badass music so it may be hard to make both equal, but oh well.

Definition-wise, to ID as stag means to present in a way one “considers to be associated with ideas about masculinity, or a presentation others might consider masculine.” In a way related to being nonbinary, the presentation “may respond or relate to masculinity as interpreted and/or queered by an enby, or; a presentation concerned with enby strength, enby boldness, enby swagger, or; an aesthetic undefinable but dwelling somewhere here.” It’s the queering of masculinity. On a personal level though, to ID as a stag, to me, means to dress in a way that makes me comfortable without relying on how others perceive me. It’s a very subjective, very individual identity that depends on nothing more than what you identify as. I dress in clothes that would be read as masculine on anyone else, if it weren’t for my long hair and my inability to bind most days, but being a stag doesn’t require you to pass as anything. I can have long hair, a chest, and even a face full of makeup if I damn well pleased and I could STILL be a stag. As a lesbian, I’ve always felt I’m a butch, but due to my inability to cut my hair short at the moment, and my inability to dress nearly as butch as I want to due to family, I had often been outright rejected by a few different butch circles. There’s this large concept that butches must dress and act in specific ways, or else they’re just “tomboys” or any other form of just “masculine women”, but I find comfort in being a stag. The term is vague and open, anyone can be a stag if they feel that’s what fits them. I also like that it doesn’t pass any statements about how one identifies. I am in no way, shape, or form a man, or masculine, or solarian, or anything. I’m entirely unaligned in terms of the binary, entirely off that grid, but I like to dress in ways considered more masculine. Being a stag keeps true to the fact that I can dress masculine without it having anything to do with my gender (or lack thereof).
