I love saying “of course” instead of “you’re welcome,” like of course I’m helping you that’s what I do, you were foolish to even consider an alternate dimension in which I’m not helping you. you idiot. you absolute buffoon.
save the bees… and save the bats, save the wasps, save the moths. they are all pollinators, and they are all important to the earth, even if our human eyes don’t deem them as charming as hummingbirds. we have to protect them too!
the LITERAL point of this post was that even if we don’t particularly like certain pollinators, we shouldn’t condone their extinction.
it’s heartbreaking that people are reblogging this with “i hate wasps, they can die!“ wrong! try again! it’s actually not about you, sorry.
Mosquitoes are also big pollinators

the thing folks living in Christian dominant cultures gotta realize is that even if you’re not Christian, your basic understanding of religion and spirituality and morality is still being filtered through a Christian lens. your very concept of what religion is and does is filtered through that lens.
This is what I call cultural Christianity, for those who are still confused
“But everyone celebrates christmas.” No. No we don’t.
“Religion is based on complete blind submission and not asking any questions ever”
No. That’s Christianity.
“Religion is totally focused on the afterlife and getting into heaven and avoiding hell”
Nope. Christianity again.
“Religion is about pushing your beliefs on others and trying to get them to convert”
Still Christianity.
Actually that’s even more specific - that’s Calvinism, which predominates in America. America isn’t just culturally Christian,it’s culturally Calvinist, which very specifically focuses on submission, the fear of damnation, and conversion. It’s also not just any old Calvinism, but a very rigidly puritanical variety thanks to our roots.
There are other culturally Christian countries, which are of other denominations and therefore have a slightly different bent. England is culturally Anglican, Germany is culturally Lutheran, Italy and Spain are culturally Catholic, Russia is culturally Orthodox, etc. However, even the cultural Catholicism of Italy is different from, say, the cultural Catholicism of Ireland.
So even here, we need to be careful not to filter other cultures’ Christianities through what is a very Americanized (via @queertilly) Christianity, and vice versa with other countries. Speaking as an American, even our concept of what Christianity is has been Americanised.
^^^ that
What we’re taught early on in American history is basically “The pilgrims came to America to pursue religious freedom,” when it was actually closer to “The pilgrims were told to GTF out of England because they were being huge dicks about their religion to other people.”

if you dont believe in god thats fine but when extremely horrible things have happened and people are praying for the lost souls of children, it is not the time to speak up. it is not just “stating your opinion” it’s being an asshole
I reblog this as an atheist who really wishes other atheists would shut the fuck up and let people deal with tragedy in their own way that hurts no one.
Aaaaand the opposite is also true. If a horrible tragedy befalls an atheist, don’t try to use it as an opportunity to lead them to Jesus.
BOTH OF THESE ARE SOOOO IMPORTANT JUST LET PEOPLE GRIEVE !!!
When my mother was dying people said they were praying for her and my siblings and me. My grandmother made us do a prayer circle in the hospital room. My mother told me how much she hated it as she and the rest of us are not catholic or Christian. It made her so uncomfortable to be around. She was DYING, but my grandma made it about her and her religion.
After my mother died everyone told me that they were praying for me. That God was with me. Well guess what, I don’t want your prayer. I don’t need it and honestly it made me feel worse. I was 14 and my mom was dead and I was a suicidal pot head with no hope for the future.
These people didn’t care about me. They were praying for themselves. If they cared about my and my family they would have kept if to themselves. If they KNEW my family they would have kept it to themselves.
You don’t tell a grieving pagan daughter that God’s will is what it is. You don’t tell a grieving pagan daughter that everything God does is for a reason. You don’t tell a grieving pagan daughter that “God gives his strongest soldiers the hardest battles.”
On the other side I have a friend who is very Catholic.
When her father was dying she prayed for him everyday. She relied on her church and those around her for support. She talked about how God lead the surgeon’s hands. And when she needed my support I went to church with her. I held her hand in mass and prayed with her and the rest of the church.
People around us made fun of her. Told her that she was stupid for believing in God. That she needed to grow up. That God wouldn’t help her. It hurt her.
She needed God. She needed people to be around her and pray for her and her family.
When her father died, I told her that God loves her and will always be with her. When my mother died, she told me that we were a strong family that could make it through anything.
Take care of your brothers and sisters. Know what they need and don’t need. And if you don’t know, ask.
Biggest fucking mood.
They’re also meant for hiltops, not small rooms. Cant get the right reverb with all that echo.
they’re also meant to make you fight the english. don’t forget that part.
My fav bagpipe player was a dude who would go out to the middle of a soccer field near my college apartment on Sunday. No one was using the field and he’d just be out there playing his heart out and the sound were just spread out over the plains. I’d be working on art for class so I’d open the window and listen. I still have fond memories of the day a kid biked up to the edge of the field, ran over to the bagpiper and the music stopped for a moment and as they talked. I couldn’t hear it but I had assumed the worst, that someone had decided to tell him to stop playing. Instead after the pause the musician seemed to nod, readjusted his bagpipes and started belting out the Star Wars theme.
i think ive reblogged this before but i still love it
Support your local bakeries, libraries, beekeepers, diviners, and soapmakers.
Especially if they’re witches. But also if they’re mundane. Keep your town alive, keep those economics flowing, and you’ll build not only great local businesses, but relationships with businesses that you can actually trust.
To the person who reblogged this with a “no animal products stipulation”, this is the wrong blog for that! Support small and hobbyist farmers with humane animal rearing practices! Buy their eggs! Buy their milk and cheese! Buy their wool and fiber! We’re all in this together!!!
