Okay, so I don’t know where this comes from.

I turned on my computer to work on my latin test and next thing I knew I was listening to Taylor Swift and writing this.

This is my first attempt at writing anything Olicity related in English. This is actually my first attempt at writing anything in English that it is not school related ever.

so, first of all, tumblr’s culture has changed a lot in the past couple years. there’s a genuine community effort to not start any drama, and ironically a lot of the current hostility is an effort to keep things calm. there’s also a change in how people interact with posts, so if you haven’t been here in a while please skip down to the tags/replies/reblog with text section.

for newcomers: you should be reblogging posts about as liberally as you would like something on twitter. if you only like stuff, people will think you are rude/a bot. you’ve probably heard people talk about “cultivating your dash,” and thats because this platform is 100% centered around your dashboard. trending matters less, unfollowing and blocking in order to shape your dash into it’s best form is widely accepted, the majority of the content you’ll find and interact with will be because of your dash, and the only way to put things on your dash is to reblog them. tumblr users are deeply distrustful of algorithms and have largely turned off the “see posts your friends have liked” function (i recommend you also turn of the various algorithms in settings → general settings → dashboard preferences).

so, once you’ve reblogged a post, there’s three ways to add content to it. the tags, replies, and reblogging with text. all of them have different connotations

the tags: an inside voice. originally they were meant for organizing your blog (and they’re still used for this), but they’ve also morphed into a way to share thoughts that aren’t funny/insightful enough for non-followers to be interested in. when in doubt, put your comment in the tags

replies: basically talking to your friends in class. your followers have no way of finding your replies (they don’t pop up on the dash, nobody gets notified except for the original poster) so chances are, only the person who made the post is gonna see your comment. it’s for quick one-offs that you’re okay with other people overhearing, but really is only made for one person. they’re like a public dm

reblog with text: an outside voice. you’re getting up on a stage in town square and entertaining people. make sure it’s funny or insightful— bottom line, add something new to the conversation. you should use this the least

general rules of thumb: 

when in doubt, reblog. people will judge you if your blog is only personal posts and you only interact with other content by liking it.  

the only things people will judge you for reblogging are personal vent posts. leave a like to give a little virtual hug

if a post is asking about your personality/opinions (i.e: tell me what’s the last tv show you watched, that kind of thing) put it in the tags

Oliver looks up with surprise when she strides in, quickly closing the door behind her. “Felicity. Hi. Is everything okay?”

He looks impeccable in a crisp navy blue suit and red tie, sitting behind his mayoral office desk. It’s almost unfair how attractive he appears. Swallowing, Felicity decides not to beat around the bush. She’s going to pass out from her nerves if she even makes an attempt at small talk with Oliver. She passes over the files from Sam, which Oliver takes with a grateful expression, and then reaches into her purse to collect the bag of pregnancy tests.

The expression on Oliver’s face as she dumps it in front of him would be priceless if he didn’t stop breathing and turn as white as a sheet almost instantly.

A heavy, uncomfortable blanket of stunned silence settles over the room. Felicity bites her lip as she watches Oliver’s panicked eyes flit between the pregnancy tests, her flat stomach and then up to her face. She can see he has a thousand questions just from the sheer intensity of his gaze, and she knows that she’s not going to have the answers to all of them.

Oliver slowly reaches out to activate his intercom and says in a scarily calm voice, not breaking eye contact with Felicity, “Hi, Sam. Could you please cancel my 3pm meeting and reschedule it for tomorrow, please? A pressing personal matter has come up that I need to handle immediately. Thank you.” He waits for a response, thanks his assistant again, and then returns to staring at Felicity in silence.

“I’m pregnant,” she tells him, although she’s pretty certain he’s figured that out by now.

He nods. “The seven pregnancy tests did sort of hint towards that, yeah.”

There’s a question in his voice about why she did so many, so Felicity toes at the office floor, feeling slightly sheepish as she says, “Google said to do multiple, just in case of false positives.”

When I feel down and unable to write, I go back to the comments on stories that mean a lot to me personally. They give me new life. I treasure them. You have no idea how long they stick with me. 

My ask box is always open. You want to express an opinion on my writing anonymously? You have a prompt, an idea, a wish? You probably don’t know how easy I am to persuade to write something. Honestly, try it. 

No fic is too old to comment on it. Never. 

If you’re too shy to leave a comment, you are valid. I’m happy to have you as a reader. I’m a crazy fangirl like you. I’m dying to talk to you. If you can’t, that’s perfectly fine though.
