I was never one to go out of my way for self-care. For the first week of classes, I didn't bother with a routine. Then, feeling strangely energized one morning, I decided to get Grim and I ready for the day. It was a little difficult, dragging a grumbling Grim out of bed, but it wasn't until later that I realized Grim hadn't fallen asleep once during class that day.

Not even through Trein’s lectures, that, admittedly, even I found it difficult to keep my eyes open for. Look, I usually read ahead of the textbooks when I got bored, and Trein wasn't a very visual teacher.

Anyways, I tried my hardest to keep up the routine for the rest of the week. …Most of the week.

“Nooooctuuuus!” Grim pulls my sleeping mask off my face, exposing my poor eyes to the Sun's radiance.

Whhhaaaaattt…?” I groan, squinting.

Grim prys my eyelids open with his paw pads. Thank you for sparing me, buddy. “Why aren't you getting up? It's morning!”

“It's the weekend you clod.” I wrap my arms around him and squeeze him against my chest.

“Oof!” Grim wriggles in my hold. “I'm not a clod you... bum! You were the one saying we had to stick to a routine!”

“Weekends are free days.”

“Ugh, fine. I was trying ta be responsible, but I guess we can sleep in today. But only because you're so insistent!”

I don't know why these chipmunks want to square up but I'm intimidated. Mostly cuz their smiles were too big. It's like the first time I saw Jade and Floyd but now I just think of those two as squishies. actually

this was a very necessary doodle for the plot, trust me

I do like the idea that Malleus adopted the snake, and let's say subsequently every other snake he found hanging out around his wardrobe. (it's not that many but, you know, more than you tend to get in other dorms.) and while Goyle is an incredibly cute name for a snek, I feel like he would be VERY into the idea of namesakes. a noble and traditional practice. he shall choose the most important names he can think of with which to honor these humble creatures who have chosen to share his home with him.
