ppl who watched s1 while it was airing with the framework of sam being the main character………..i would like 2 study you bc i do not understand
#but at the same time. the beauty of what makes dean soo interesting IS that he wasn’t the main character at first #he was just the fun sidekick w/ a heart of gold and more going on beneath the surface #which makes u. intrigued by him #makes u want him more #every ep i’m like. ok but tell me abt dean #and the crazy thing is. so many early eps are focused on revealing things abt dean by paralleling him to ppl in the cases #like sam’s stuff is just. handed to us bc he’s the main character. he’s coping w/ jess’s death he’s having dreams he wants to find john #but dean is like. we gotta dig. we gotta go meta to understand him. and that’s just. soo fun and delicious 2 me #he is our subtext boy. he has always been our subtext boy. everything abt him is subtext and it’s still 100% real #bc since day one that’s how we’re meant to read him #anyways. re-falling in love w/ dean don’t mind me<3
bringing my tags to the light bc yea ! i love our subtext boy<3 he wasn’t created as The Main Character. he was created to intrinsically be a character u have to dig for. he was created as the sidekick the narrative won’t outright Tell you about. he’s always been made of layers and subtext and thee only way to read him and understand him is to Not take what’s presented to us abt him at face value. i love him so much
