Obscure Fandom RP Masterlists

Hello, all!  I have the IM and other site masterlists, such as they are, up now.  With what’s going on here right now, it seemed prudent to make a listing for other places to find fellow tiny fandom RPers.  So if you have an instant messaging account or an account on a different site you would like listed so that people know where to find you, please let me know.  Right now I only have Discord and Skype listed for IMs and Wordpress and Pillowfort listed for other sites, but I will absolutely expand that if people have other accounts they wish to use.  

This is a little more complicated than the fandom listing, so I would ask that you send me an ask.  If I remember correctly, tumblr does not like links in asks, but that can be avoided by spacing out the URL, putting the . in parenthesis, or various other tactics that make it appear not to be a link.

In case you missed it, Staff announced today that they would be purging "adult content" from Tumblr beginning 12/17/18. They state in their further info post that this only means sexually graphic images of real people. However, based upon both the fact that they've already begun purging completely unrelated things (see also: this post from one of my RP blogs) and my memories of similar purges of "objectionable material" on LiveJournal and FFN, I'm going to be adding a couple of new index pages. The first would be for people who have instant messaging systems outside of Tumblr that they are comfortable sharing and another would be for people with RP accounts on other sites that they're comfortable sharing. That way this masterlist retains its function even if we begin seeing a mass exodus.

So let me go over briefly how that would likely work. I would probably divide up each one of these pages into masterlists for each site or messaging service. For example, on the IM page, have a masterlist for all the people in the fandom masterlists who have a Discord. It would be listed alphabetically by Tumblr URL, to make it easier to find people. And while I would certainly be fine listing usernames/URLs for other platforms if people want me to, I'm not going to ask anyone to put any info out there that they aren't comfortable with. For instance, I'm not comfortable doing a discord drop, but I've encouraged my followers to ask for my discord. So under my own listings for the Discord masterlist, rather than my screen name, it would just list "ask." This system would require users to crosscheck between the fandom listing and the IM/URL listings if they want to find other RPers who RP elsewhere, but it's the best system I can come up with.

Like the fandom listing, I would also encourage people to message me if they use a platform that isn't represented for which they would like to be listed. So if you use Skype, for instance, and there's not a Skype masterlist but you want your Skype listed (or a note put up to ask you for your Skype) so that people can find you there, you would just send me an ask that says you'd like there to be a masterlist for Skype users.

I don't know how many of you are like me, in that I have a problem when it comes to RP muses. I have roughly a billion, and yet I can't seem to resist making more. Lately, though, the new ones haven't so much been inspired by a new series itself as they have by the utter lack of RPers in that fandom. That's how my London Spy muse happened, my Shades of Magic muses, my Doctor Who extended universe muses... All of those happened because I couldn't find people who RPed specific characters from those franchises that I really wanted to have my own existing muses interact with. Usually, after days of fruitless searching, I would just give up and make the muse I was looking for myself.

That's another reason this masterlist exists. It's primarily for people who RP in tiny fandoms and are having trouble finding other RPers from that fandom, yes. But, on the other side of that coin, it's also for RPers from any fandom who are looking for specific muses from small fandoms and are having trouble finding them. Because most of the RP community seems to be fine with crossovers. And I really think that for those of us in tiny fandoms, crossovers can be essential. So if there are RPers out there looking for your specific tiny fandom muse, this is also a place for them to be able to find you.
