it was never what i lacked

it was what she would allow

because why wouldn’t a hunter

choose prey that doesn’t run

Am I missing the knock on the door?

You said you were going to come,

but I’m still left alone in this room.

This room holds nothing but memories…

memories of me and you.

Memories I’d rather forget.

Memories that once felt warm,

but now because of them

I can’t even lay in my own bed.

So instead, I sleep on the couch.

It may be uncomfortable,

but nothing is more uncomfortable

than lying in a coffin

that already holds what’s dead.
