“I wouldn’t want to put them out but it would really complete the cake.” She spoke, speaking the words that she was thinking. “Would you come with me to get it? I don’t want to ask by myself.” 

“Sure,” Noah answered. “Honestly, I don’t really have much better to do. You win the crown over homework any day, sis.”

“Okay, I meant it as a joke.” Simona spoke, sighing as their joke didn’t hit as intended. “Can you just pretend to laugh?” 

Noah let out a small laugh at her statements, shaking his head slightly. “Honestly Fairbank, I think that window for laughter may have passed.”

“A… mean slushie?” she looked to him curiously. “What constitutes a mean slushie in your eyes?”

Noah let out a small laugh at her reply. “Honestly? I have no idea,” he answered. “Poisonous maybe? I don’t know.”

“I’m not sure what’s the biggest size they sell, but I’m sure we can get you a bunch of coffee,” Winnie laughed. “Do you always consume so much caffeine? I’m sure that can’t be good for you in the long run.”

“Probably not, but I tend to drink far too much,” Noah replied. “I don’t sleep very well usually, so the coffee helps. Plus, I think coffee is good.”

“Especially when it’s freshly baked and warm? I can’t think of anything better.” Jasmine spoke, “Do you think they have cookies and cream ice cream too?” 

Noah shrugged slight in response to his twin’s question. “Not sure, but I think if you begged them or gave them the puppy dog eyes enough, they’ll get you some anyway.”

“That does sound really nice,” she smiled at the suggestion. “Alright. It’ll only take a second to drop everything at the dorms too,” Winnie added, gesturing for him to come along. Once they’d both dropped their things off, she turned with him with another smile, “Shall we go get that coffee then?”

“As long as it’s a large,” he replied. “The amount of caffeine I need to even think to function and work on homework is crazy.”

“Not exactly?” she echoed back, hinting for him to elaborate. “I see. I mean a fear of water is pretty common among individuals,” Mars nodded. “Seriously there’s no need to worry, I’m not going to force you into a large body of water, especially if you don’t like it. I may be crazy but I’m not a monster.”

“Of course you’re not a monster,” Noah replied. “Unless you make a very mean slushie or something.”

“Yeah a break sounds nice,” Winnie admitted with a nod of her head. “Should we go out for a walk around campus, get some fresh air?”

“That sounds nice,” Noah replied, nodding along. “I could go for a quick coffee too, to carry around when we’re on our walk. Do you want to ditch our books in the dorms quickly first so we don’t have to lug it around?”

“With the works? Ice cream and everything?” Jasmine asked, “What kind of cake are you thinking of? Triple chocolate?” 

“If you want, yeah sure,” Noah answered. “Triple chocolate sounds really good, you know it’s probably my weakness.”

“Pfft, I mean I could in theory– but what about celebrating this victory?” Mars waved it away, despite knowing Noah had a point. “Let me guess, you’ve finished all of your assignments by now? Signed, sealed, submitted?” she waggled her eyebrows at him playfully. “Alright, no lake jumping. What should we do instead then? Since I take it you’re not game for brain freezes either.”

Noah raised his eyebrows. “Not exactly,” he replied. “No, I can be down with brain freezes. I don’t mind the cold, but water on the other hand is a different story.”

“I had a habit of waking up in your bed and you’d just be staring at me whilst I slept, that’s creepy.” She told the other, she hadn’t had the heart to tell them back when they were dating. But now, well she could speak her mind a little more. “Oh is that so, and what you consider to be ‘the funniest pose?”

“Okay, I never did it for long, I just had to brace myself for when I actually wake you up,” Noah replied. “You were not fun to wake up.” Noah made a funny pose with a funny face. “How’s this?”

Mags shook her head, “Come on, it’s me. I know you’re hiding something,” she said, concern lacing her voice. “I don’t usually come around this part of campus. I was looking for you, seeing as I haven’t seen you in days. I was worried.”

Noah sighed. Noah had a soft spot for Maggie. “It’s dumb, really,” he said. “I’m just upset over Soleil leaving. Painting kind of helps calm me down. I not very good when I’m upset.”

“Do you think it’s too early for some sort of cake?” Jasmine offered to her brother, “I’m in the mood for something sweet.” 

“One time I ate cake for breakfast because I didn’t want to make any eggs, so whatever you want,” Noah replied. “I’m down for some cake.”

“The assignment has officially been submitted!” Marzia announced, swinging back in her chair rather dangerously. “Let’s do something to celebrate like eat our weight in ice cream or jump into the lake that’s probably still freezing cold right now. On second thought let’s not do the latter idea. But I’m open to any suggestions really. I can stress about the other one I gotta do tomorrow.”

“Or you could start the other one today and not be so stressed about it tomorrow,” Noah suggested. “But I am willing to do something else,” he teased. “Except jumping into the lake, I am not doing that.”

“It’s not my fault! My face muscles have a mind all of it’s own.” Jasmine spoke trying to defend herself and the look that appeared on her face. “I think so too,” Anything to get a few more minutes of procrastinating. “What are you hungry for?” 

“Whatever is fine with me. I’ll eat pretty much anything as long as it doesn’t contain cheeries or strawberries.”

“Doesn’t sound like you’ve been doing much studying either if you’ve been watching me doodle these past five minutes,” she pointed out with a lightly coy smile. “Sorry about being distracted though. What chapter are we meant to be on again?”

“You would be correct,” Noah replied with a slight chuckle. “ How about we take a break? It seems to be needed.”
