every squad started gathering on their platforms, and once everyone was settled, they were finally lowered out of the dropship. octane was practically bouncing next to puppyβs steady, mostly unmoving frameβ ECSTATIC to get something going with the new guy. octane always loved showing the ropes around the apex games, especially if his counterpart didnβt act like they knew everything better and just wanted to be on their own.
the speedster had to admit, puppy did seem more like a lone wolf kinda guy at first. he was surprised to see him stick by his side in past matches if they were teamed up. it made octavio feel pretty PROUD.
he looked back at puppy and gave the taller man a nudge with his fist on his shoulder, not enough force behind it to even shove puppy just a little bit.
β just follow my lead, bro! we got this. β,
octane encouraged, and then his gaze was quickly cast aside when he looked down to the arena that finally came into view.
he liked worldβs edge; a lot of open spaces to run around in, nothing to trap him in like the bunker on kingβs canyon for exampleβ he shuddered at the memory of the static defender literally FENCING HIM IN before.
the legends soon got their call to drop, and while some hesitated, some already dropped head-first into the arena. octane was one of the latter, again giving his teammate a tug to tell him to come along.
once in the air, the daredevil immediately steered for the refinery; the drop wasnβt as hot as the towns for example, but people still liked dropping there, so they definitely wouldnβt be on their ownβ and besides, theyβll just quickly grab some stuff and in a blink, his launch pad would be ready and theyβd be able to head for the next small town and clean up whatever trash was left there, in case they wouldnβt get into a fight already.
sounded like a good plan to octane; heβd just have to communicate it to PUPPY. eventually.
β letβs drop there, looks like fun! β,
octane called out to his squadmate as he pointed at the roof of the warehouse, still giving puppy the time to split off and find another spot nearby to scavenge if he wanted to.
No sooner than the quick tug from his squadmate, and he stepped off the platform, immediately dipping into a practiced dive as his pack launched him forward. Puppy hadnβt been in many matches yet, but he didnβt look like an amateur dropping. He had practiced it well enough, and heights didnβt scare him. He was able to follow after the daredevil without issue.
Watching where Octane soon pointed to, he regarded the area. Puppy had never been there before. It didnβt look like a hot drop, surprisingly; instead, it was way out at the edge of the arena.
And sure enough, by the time he swung his legs forward and his jets worked to safely land him on the indicated roof, it looked as if only one other squad had landed with them, and not close, either. Puppy gazed sort of longingly over toward the enemy squad but didnβt hang around knowing that Octane wouldnβt. He split off from the speedster to head for the second rooftop door leading into the building, so as to loot the opposite side of it - planning to stay parallel to his teammate so he wouldnβt be too far off.
Unless, of course, Octane popped a stim to zip ahead and just come back for him later. Puppy knew that was prone to happening. The important part was that Octane always came back, at least... even if it was sometimes with gunfire on his tail.
