mphorusâ:
There were several moments of silence that left Horus with plenty of space - too much space - to think. This man was a god, he didnât need to be saved like some kind of damsel in distress. In fact, it had probably been more inconvenient for Horus to come and practically cradle him like this. Oh, and gods, he is cradling the other god, but with the way Njord has his fingers tucked into the folds of Horusâs jacket thereâs no way for Horus to move. He could release Njord, but that might unbalance him further and, wellâŠat this point Horus was keen to avoid anymore awkwardness. And yet, it had been such a long time since Horus had been this physically close to someone that he couldnât help but meet those eyes staring at his and blush with the sudden and unexpected intimacy of it.
âIâŠsuppose I did.â When it seemed that Njord was pulling from him, Horus instantly released his grip on the god. Horus felt rather foolish as he watched Njord rustle up the mess that had been made of the papers as easily as the wind blowing leaves off autumn trees. Of course. âNot that you needed to be saved.â
Somehow saying the words out loud made the headmaster feel even more foolish. Through the burn of shame on his face, Horus didnât even notice the color that spread over the other godâs skin. With the papers assembled and Njord rising to stand tall before him, Horus hesitantly reached for the offered hand and stood to once again face Njord. In that moment of grasping hands, the brilliant florescent light behind the other had created the softest of silhouettes, something that Horus was quite used to seeing with all the time he spent in the sky. It made him think that Njord might look even nicer as a silhouette against the sun. The thought distracted him so much that he didnât immediately say anything when he was on his feet again except for a belated and stuttered thanks.Â
âOh, no, you really donât have to worry about it. It was a pleasure-â bad word choice, âa, uhâŠit was nothing-â bad word choice in the exact opposite way, âjust the right thing to do.â Yet somehow the sky god made it seem through words alone that the event had been one of such consequence. How was it that he was such an excellent public speaker but could barely complete a thought in conversation with and acquaintance? âThereâs no need for repayment-â
Only then did Horus realizes his hand was still clasping Njordâs. He thought better of snatching it away, instead opting for the somehow more awkward path of giving Njordâs hand a friendly squeeze before releasing it. Gods, Njord must have really thought him to be an awkward fool now. Not a good look for the god-king and university headmaster.
Crimson waves swept throughout his visage once more. His ears became mute, eyes locked on a pair of lips that mouthed words however said nothing. At least, in Njordâs perspective, he wasnât entirely paying attention to whatever it was that the other male had to say. He was mostly stunned at the fact that it was, of all people, the universityâs headmaster. The entire scene exchanged must have been along the lines of embarrassing for both parties however his awareness for Horusâ side was dimmed. Every source of warmth between their shared palms radiated in their mutual grasp. Like a deer caught in head-lights, Njord sure felt stupid. As though a realization also hit his consciousness, the god of wind and the sea retracted his own digits and brought the palm to rest at the back of his nape. It is then that he gently rubs the fingers along the wide stretch of neck that he realizes a certain dampness had spread across his flesh. Sweaty palms. He knew he was quite flusteredâ though it was feeling the wetness that he knew just exactly how much. Being a man of emotion it wasnât a difficulty to feel and express whatever it was harboring inside his core. If Njord had become sad, he would express it. If he were happy, it would be the same. In this case: the god experienced an immense wave of shyness. How could he recover from this? Itâs like he was completely unaware of the turmoil that raged inside the other godâs entirety. Just like thatâ a flashback hit him. Njord drifting asleep during an important(ly boring) meeting between all the staff members. He recalled waking up by lifting his head from Horusâ shoulder and, oh boy, did he suddenly feel so squirmy in his spot. If only he could right click on that memory and press delete. âHey... itâs no big deal.â How did he manage to speak so casual? The god had absolutely no clue, but his entire demeanor remained that of suave and relaxed. His hips shifted to stand in an angular manner, the round of his butt somewhat sticking out as his dulled nails dug into the little hairs to the back of his neck. Njordâs dark brown eyes were lowered in thought, unaware that his vision was directly linked to the chest just before himself. His eyes were open but he couldnât see while the thoughts kept flowing in. âWell, Iâm not having the greatest dayâ Iâm sure youâre able to tell. My brain is kind of jumbled from the class and I totally forgot to propel myself back up. If you werenât there, I surely would have face planted.â With a hearty chuckle, a certain v-line creased within the apples of his cheeks followed by the stretch of his lips. His blocked eyebrows bounced around some in a playful manner as his eyes shot up to meet the otherâs gaze. Time to brush all of that off and pray Horus never remembered that ever again. âLet me buy you dinner. Itâs the least I can do!âÂ
