Skye grinds her palms into her temples, growling out in frustration. "Why don't you give him a chance? He's alone, sad and wants his family back! We were supposed to be his family! After all he's done for us, how can you shut him out like that!"Â
Tina sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. "He's fine alone, Skye."Â
"No, he isn't!" But Skye was just ignored. Not anymore. He stomps her foot and watches as Tina leaves the room. She growls again, making up her mind in a split second. Skye rushes and grabs a bag out of her closet. It has essentials; she's been planning this for a while now.Â
She takes a breath before rushing out of her room, leaving through the glass door that led to the balcony. She hops off, ignoring Tina's confused sputtering. Skye ignores the sting in her ankles and goes to run before Tina can jump down to grab her.
Skye runs across the lawns, making her way to the small lake. There was a boat. The keys were left in, she can make a quick getaway. Skye doesn't look back, she just rushes forward, in a few seconds she'll be gone. There's no other boat to take.Â
"Skye, stop it!" Skye only hurries more when she hears Tina. Pushing the boat into the water as she's trying to turn the key. It's a good thing she caught Tina off guard. There wasn't much ground to cover Tina would've caught her.
The boat turns on and Skye jumps into the seat, pressing on the gas. She speeds out of there, ignoring Tina's yelling. She was free from here. It wouldn't be a quick drive, but she could make it there before the sun comes up.Â
She speeds past the Authority, the guards won't mess with her as long as she just drives by. The water had lowered, so she needs to squeeze in through more places. That's fine, she's gotten plenty of practice.
It's a bit of a bumpy drive, but she makes it to her destination in good time. Letting the boat wash up on shore, she hops out. "Midas!" She yells his name, running up to the white house with shaky legs.Â
Inside the house, Midas quirks an eyebrow up. "Skye?" He yells, sure he's heard her. Putting his book down on the dusty couch, the girl bursts through the door. Her worried face turns to a wide smile, running to him and crashing into his chest for a hug. He stumbles back, still a bit disoriented. He blinks a couple times before laughing.Â
"What are you doing here? It's late!" They share a tight hug, so happy to see in each other in person for the first time in weeks; phone calls just don't do it. She pulls away enough to see his face.Â
"I got into an argument with Tina over you. It's been too long, she doesn't know what to do and what to trust, and I cannot stand seeing you live.. here!" She giggles a bit. He offers a soft smile.Â
"Well, the neighbors aren't too bad." She shakes her head, giggling, and hugs him again. It's comforting for the both of them. Finding relief in each other was always easy. He sighs, eyes closing before remembering what she said. "So, you got into an argument?" Skye sighs, annoyed compared to Midas' previous content one.
"Yeah.. I've been ignored so often since you left, my temper has grown a bit." They pull away. "I hope it's okay for me to stay here for a night or two?" He scoffs.Â
"That shouldn't even be a question."
The two talked, mostly about what to do in the future. About shadow, ghost, the agency. Tina taking over The Agency since Midas has been gone. So much has happened so fast, it's hard to comprehend.
Skye looks up at the roof, snug in her sleeping bag. Ollie was at the foot of the bed, fluffed up and ready to sleep. "I know Tina wants you back. She's just scared of being wrong, of thinking about the bad things. But we're gonna be fine." She sits up and looks at Midas. He's on his side, facing her. She smiles. "We've got more friends on our side than before. We're going to be alright."Â
It was so sincere and sweet, Midas could only smile. She knows he needed to hear that. "Thanks, Skye. Now let's get some sleep." Skye agrees and lays down.
"Goodnight!" She hugs her plushie and closes her eyes.Â
"Goodnight, Skye.." He finally relaxes and falls asleep
