The women of Daredevil aren’t written poorly or suck, you’re just misogynistic and media illiterate. Daredevil is told from Matt’s perspective more than it’s not, Matt Murdock is a horrible boyfriend and friend because he’s narcissistic more so than not. Matt and Dex are mirrors of each other, Matt is just not formally diagnosed.
Matt has a savior complex with Claire, he doesn’t listen to her concerns about not wanting to be involved any more than she has to, or wanting to go home after being kidnapped. He forces her to stay with him, and blows her off when she admits she likes him.
Matt has spoken to Karen like she’s a child all the way back to season one of the Netflix daredevil, she expresses genuine concern, fear, and anger regarding what happened to her so it doesn’t happen to anyone else and Matt with his superiority and savior complex talks down to her, and tells her to stop acting like a child. Going as far as to reprimand Foggy for helping Karen find out the truth.
When Matt and Karen officially date for the first time, he ignores her, her feelings, and the case they’re working on in favor of Elektra, whom Matt is also controlling with. Matt is a horrible friend to Foggy, a Terrible Lawyer to Frank, and a horrid boyfriend to Karen. He ignores the Castle trial leaving Foggy alone for the defense, not properly giving Frank a fair trial, and cheats on Karen with Elektra, whom Matt gets killed at the end because he’s trying to play savior by manipulating Elektra into not killing anyone.
When Matt eventually becomes friends with Frank, he tries pulling the same controlling emotional manipulation on him about not killing. Even after Frank tells him about what is clearly his trauma and PTSD manifesting into the ONLY thing and way Frank knows on how to take out a threat.
In season 3 Matt fakes his own death, once again going on a narcissistic rant about how Foggy and Karen are better off without him, and to forget him so he can go on a revenge mission. He emotionally toys with and manipulates his friends again and ignores them till they’re convenient for him. He tries controlling Ray Nadeem and using him as bait, knowing well enough that Fisk already had people looking for Nadeem. Matt’s actions of trying to manipulate a scared man, is what ultimately got him killed.
Matt’s whole relationship with Heather, he ignores her most of the time. He actively tries to play mind games with her that fall short because she’s a mental health professional, who questions Matt. Matt uses sex and back handed questions to deflect her. When Heather is attacked by muse, Matt wasn’t concerned about her safety or well being he was AFTER MUSE. When Heather saved herself by killing muse, as it was the only way she was going to feel safe. Matt argued with her that “Daredevil saved you”. He never let her talk or work out her muse trauma with him, someone that was supposed to be her safe space.
When the Fisks hired her as a private marriage counselor, Matt tried telling her no, and used her as a way to get even closer to Fisk and then once again played public hero taking a bullet for Fisk, traumatizing Heather even more. Matt wakes up in the hospital asking for Karen knowing well and truly that Karen was not in the room and that it was Heather next to him. Matt once again Leaves Heather all alone during the city black out and raid, and then disappears all together.
Once you watch the show with the intel that Matt is a horrible person when it comes to relationships and a bad catholic, the show becomes a lot more enjoyable and makes more sense
