Watching Ninjago Dragons Rising for the past few days as I gradually upgrade the screen size to be bigger and bigger- I love it so damn much it's so good!! Maybe cuz I'm a Lloyd kinnie (so sorry Jay Cole and Zane fans) and he's like... a star in this first half

ninjago was first released on january 14th, 2011 and it's still going. they're partway through season 15 right now and the creators have repeatedly said they just don't want to stop making it. it has literally outlasted every single other cartoon network show that began around the same time as it despite it having a weirdly underground fanbase

i was a ninjago fan in 2015-2018 and now, in 2022, i can come back to it and still get new canon content. that's insane!! do you know how few shows have that staying power?? especially animated ones??? ESPECIALLY ones that don't have, like, MASSIVE fanbases?

and let me stress the fact that this children's show about lego ninjas is BATSHIT CRAZY. In the first eight seasons alone (because those are the ones I've even seen), they:

revealed that one of the main characters is actually a robot

permanently put the 10 y/o main character into an adult body (which is acknowledged as fucked up and traumatic multiple times in the show)

killed the robot off in a season finale

made the entire season following said finale about the other characters trying to get him back (they did)

turned one of the main characters into a ghost

possessed another main character for the entirety of a season

made one main character accidentally orphan himself by making a wish that made his bio parents his adopted parents, and his bio dad a just-deceased rich man he idolized

killed off another main character in her lover's arms (and then revive her)

mess up the timeline in order to completely redesign all of the characters and also turn their sensei into a baby for a season

also there are cults like almost every season this show has so many cults
