I haven’t been able to draw for so long… (college life is not for the faint of heart ((me included))) but I saw the new avatar movie and….woag

This is Iften’s “team avatar” (yes, Basem is apart of his squad. That boy could spiritbend the Father Glowworm)

I had to blow the dust off this app….its been months…

I’ve rewritten the story just a tad but most things are still the same-

After Basem fights the ‘Air Bender Avatar’ Chöjor, he becomes deaf. Basem creates his own type of sign language (?it’s not really sign language ig) with the help of Water (note: he learned water bending from Pay when they visited the northern water tribes).

He basically puts on puppet shows so his dad can understand other people and occasionally him, he may have been mute before but he had his moments of vocalness.

(Ex: if someone mentions someone specifically, he would mimic the water to look like their face. Or if a specific actions is being described he doesn’t have a sign for, he’d act it out with water, etc.)

Another thing-

After Basem learns waterbending from an actual teacher, it’s learned he’s a prodigy. He is an excellent spirit bender (which explains why he was so chill with the spirits in the sand nation).

It’s quite the contrast because Iften is absolutely HORRIBLE at water bending…it leads to Basem having to train him. Pay also does but yaknow he has stuff going on.

Something else-

Basem is amazing at sweat bending. He didn’t have much water to bend back in Si Wong- except for when Iften would take him to the oasis to train- so he had to adapt. This is also a genetic(?- metaphorical term, it’s not actually genes) thing. Iften is extremely adaptive with his bending. He’s a little sneaky guy who’d rather work smarter not harder.

Final thing-

When Basem was a baby he would cling to Iften at all times, so he was often at the bar. Because he smiled so much, all the patrons fell in love with the little water bending baby…so cute.

Later on Basem became a rag boy who would clean up spills (with the help of his water bending) and all the patrons made sure to be extra clean in the establishment…except when they could tell Iften wanted to bend.

Are they poly? Worse. Would poly fix them? It would make them worse.
