The scene where Eito turns to leave the academy and the curtains close and lights go out behind him and just as it goes completely dark he tries to turn back to say more to the SDU but there's just a solid 15 or more seconds of total silence as he realizes they're already gone... bro. I was genuinely slack-jawed at how effective the sound (or rather the absence of) and lighting was so simple yet so perfect to convey his loneliness, it's still hitting me continuously like a constant stream of bricks being thrown at me.

Eito also took off his glasses for one scene and the eye wound makeup was fuckin wild. I was not expecting them to actually show his wounds, especially ones that looked this gnarly compared to what was done in the game where they just made his eyes completely black. On one hand, the makeup obviously has to be exaggerated in order to be seen from a distance as per common sense for theater, but it also looked like Eito was in so much physical pain from an act of impulse to feel like he belonged and it added a lot to the emotional turmoil he's going through.

Ohhhhhhh my god and him trying to act tough and brave in front of the Futuran kids when the battle pets arrived only for him to fall down to his knees and start crying with them AUGHHHHHHHHHHH such a perfect visual representation of how Eito is a scared kid under all that bravado. Him taking off his gloves to hold onto the kid... don't even PLAY WITH ME MAN THIS IS GOING TO HAUNT ME FOR WEEKS

I’m actually so devastated. Like my heart aches. Eito delivered a really emotional monologue, he was getting really drooly and snotty and was crying on the floor. at some point while he’s monologuing he TAKES OFF HIS GLASSES AND SHOWS THE AUDIENCE and the watch party I was in went insane. They did makeup for Eito’s eye holes to show how badly he mutiliated himself

HE WAS TRYING TO PUT ON A BRAVE FACE FOR THE FUTURAN KIDS TOO 😭 he got down on their level and talked to them like ouhhhh

IM SO SICK YHIS WHOLE THING WAS SO WELL ACTED AND HEARTBREAKING. eito brought everyone out for the bows at the end which i thought was cute

Strategy and foresight is what she lacked. This implies that the people who experimented on her only trained her to fight offensively— not to protect herself — because they didn't care about her well-being or survival as long as she completes her missions. This was already obvious but the way her upbringing (and how disposable they viewed her) can be seen even in her combat style is very sad.

The effect also works on us, the reader, since when her secret is revealed, not only does every scene after always have the added layer of Makima possibly listening, but every scene before it as well.

I love that post so much I think it was actually the first time I saw Eirara being discussed in the wild?! So I was very excited about that lol. Like YAY someone else sees it too. I’ve actually shared it with a few people when they asked me why I ship Eito with Kurara and I think it helped my case ;)

AND YESSSSS I can’t wait, I always love seeing content of them… I really think more people should know about the Eito/Kurara pair! It may be among the rarest of all hundred line rare pairs but I’m putting in the work to put it on the map 🙂‍↕️

my goal isn't necessarily to make it super popular or anything, but to just get people to know it exists and normalize it. Carve out a place for it in the fandom. And then someday no one will even bat an eye at it! Someone could say they ship Eirara and the response would just be like oh cool
