rezetaka…lately, i’ve just been thinking about reze’s longing for takara. or rather, somebody like her; a beacon of pure, unconditional love. a protective older sibling that would’ve sooner put her own life on the line instead of allowing her younger one to be experimented upon.
however her perception changes. the more details denji fills in about takara (and i do truly think he mentions her a significant amount…defo not all of their conversations of course its primarily focused on their romance but still. denji at this point in time has begun to warm up to takara and is pretty much seeing her as a sister again) the more takara feels less like an idealized concept of familial love and more like…a normal human girl reze herself longed to be. would’ve longed to be friends with. it’s hard to hold takara up as this distance concept as the deadline to take chainsaw man’s heart approaches. killing denji will shatter what little peace of mind he’d provided for takara completely.
but of course, reze has to carry out her orders. of course, takara will end up resenting her without ever knowing the girl outside of the bomb hybrid. (or believing what denji had told her about the girl he’d warmed up to at the cafe to be a complete lie, all of it part of the facade crafted to Hurt Denji…and i know the self-punishing part of reze wouldn’t argue with this ;-;;)
+i also think about like the futility of rezeden running away with takara context because i’ve already posted before how in the end denji ends up relieved he didn’t run away with reze, knowing he’d be leaving taka behind (something he initially wrote off as being good for her, not having to worry about him all the time…;-;;) but considering reze’s own longing for takara in spite of her nature as a “killer” and takara’s own as a human, i think a happy ending with denji knowing she would have “taken” him from his family would eat her up inside. they’d both feel guilty even if they’d somehow managed to escape makima’s clutches and i wonder if they’d even feel they deserved to pursue that romance with each other knowing they’d left her behind, in psb no less…
