but watching obsession made me think rightโฆtakara isnโt โpossessedโ by obsession devil, i use the term because #1 its cooler then โpoweredโ or anything lol and #2 thatโs how most everyone else perceives this change in takaraโs character (or the character they were presented with, remember that takara masked a lot of her distrust/distaste around people such as yoshida because she thought โplaying niceโ with psb would keep them from trampling over denji) but noโฆtakara is basically in an altered state of mind due to obsession devilโs abilities, able to use them as her own, but she isnโt being influenced by any thoughts besides her own, never making any action she doesnโt decide herself. (yesss in the sugo murderpost obsession does take control over takaras body to murk him but it was what takara explicitly Wanted To Do + obsession fed off of takaras mounting panic and anger and helplessness of the situation and essentially just Stroke First so TAKARA wouldnโt have to. but the end result is still blood on her handsโฆ)
and with the themes of addiction in p2, i feel it Does Fit to compare it to a sort of inebriation or โhighโ (complete with takara getting terrible headaches when she comes down from being possessed, the memories of what sheโd done in that state only really coming back to her in bits and pieces unless sheโs confronted with explicit evidence of what sheโd done beforehand). inhibitionโs gone, impulse is at an all time high, as is her adrenaline/overall reflexes (among other thingsโฆglances at her weeping angel ass way of moving while possessed). becoming โpossessedโ is just taking away any second thought to what takara wants from a situation, and what she is willing to do to get it. numbing the pain of her injuries as the dopamine rush she gets from injuring others spikes. itโs giving takara her own chainsaw man form lol. that spot where the pain melds into pleasure, where she gets strong enough using a devilโs powers to overcome human restrictions such as injury, guilt, reconsideration for her actionsโฆshe just does them. and honestly it CAN be called a little frightening considering how restrained and reserved takara had been from the beginning of p2, but it wasnโt a healthy way of dealing with her emotions via repressing themโฆall it did was shove them down until they exploded out in the worst outlet possible via obsession.
takara herself would likely compare it to a powerup in a video game lol. its like the super star in mario (yesss the hayakawas are a mario family sue me) for just a little while, maybe an hour or so, takara gets to feel like sheโs on top of the world. once that time is up, sheโs tired, pissy, with a splitting headache and the knowledge that sheโs done something with โan old pal of mineโ.
