Many/Much and A Lot of
Many/Much and A lot of
Two ways to say Many/Much and A Lot of
多くor 多い「おお」Casual way
たくさん Formal way
If you want to use these with a noun add の eg.
おおくのひとがいます。- There are many people
私はたくさんの本が読みました - I read many books/ I have read many books
But たくさん can be used as an adverb and you don’t have to use anything with it eg.
たくさん食べます- I eat a lot
日本でおみやげをたくさんかいました - I bought a lot of souvenirs in Japan.
*I think the translation for おおくis closer to ‘many and much’ where as たくさん is closer to ‘a lot of’ in english
One will ask Sensei on this…
“It’s interesting how たくさんtakusan and the english “a lot” is similar. In English, you cannot say, “a lot books”. Instead, you say, “a lot of books”. In Japanese too, you cannot say たくさん本 takusan hon. Instead, you say, たくさんの本 takusan no hon. On the other hand, there is no problem saying “I eat a lot” or たくさん食べます Takusan tabemasu.”

Japanese test reading test this Friday 👈 pretty sure I could right this sentence in Japanese 😳. こんしゅうの金曜日は テストの日本語があります。🙏 praying this is somewhat correct 😭. But anyways, there are about 53 kanji or more that I possibly need to know for this test from 卵 to 読. And a lot of nonsense it could be about from しゅみは何ですか to どうやって 行きますか。 Right now I just want to eat donuts and sleep but eh will see how it goes. じゃあね。 🌚
