panic!at the disco albums feel like a perfect encapsulation of different stages of adulthood:
first two albums (a fever you can't sweat out and pretty. odd.) are what it's like to become an adult (?) when you are discovering yourself, you are horny, and you think you have figured out the world. it is very pretentious (in a good way, I think it's some of their most lyrically complex works), and cynical (like teenagers are) but still naive. it's more of an idea of how the world works rather than an actual experience of it.
vices and virtues is very much being in your mid twenties (i would know because I'm going through it right now). when I listened to this album as a teenager it didn't really resonate with me but it sure as hell does now. it's the time when you already have something to regret, you have more of an idea of how the world works and something to feel nostalgic about (oh memories, where'd you go?). you also are somewhat optimistic about the future and what you can do (i think I'll figure it out with a little more time - but who needs time?)
Same with too weird to live, too rare to die for the late twenties, though I guess i have no leg to stand on talking about this currently (as i am yet to find out what it's like being in your late twenties).
And I'm guessing after that, in your mid-thirties, you just start losing your mind (my frame of reference being pray for the wicked and the album after that). So something to look forward to!
no i’m not “scared of sex.” obviously. you can’t be scared of something that’s not real. idiot

in the contemporary world, the most fundamental human right - and, it often seems, the least protected one - is "being both Allowed and Able to go Somewhere Else." the rest is commentary.
the torments of prison are predicated on Not Letting You Leave. the most terrifying and degrading aspects of childhood are predicated on Not Letting You Leave. misogynists wail and moan and fearmonger about divorce and equal opportunity employment because they Allow Wife To Leave. borders and immigration restrictions exist, in no small part, to Prevent People From Leaving countries where they will be exploited and/or oppressed. fuck you for trying to leave. fuck you for exerting any control over your life whatsoever. that makes you the one at fault, actually.
imposter syndrome is so funny like fuuuuck i hope nobody finds out im tricking people into thinking im competent by knowing things and doing them
i think its funny how if you imagine something scary enough your brain starts treating it like its real and out to get you. its really cool and not annoying at all
someone: i made up a guy called the Scary Getter! He's real spooky when he tries to getter you!
me: wow thats scary.....the Scary Getter.....what if hes real....what if he getters me???
gonna start reblogging this every time i start worrying about about the Scary Getter
Listened to Addison Rae's album "Addison" (I know, I'm late)
The vibes are so summery, like you are having a fun outing on a summer evening with your friends, or maybe like anticipation of summer, just thinking of all the fun things you could do (makes sense as it came out right at the beginning of it). Love the use of interludes, very chic. The runtime is disappointing but not devastating, i guess (would have loved more songs in it tho). Loved how uplifting it is, reminding me of this very specific flavor of optimism in summer. She is also so raw at the same time with her lyrics, impressive stuff. Fun funky beats and her hypnotic voice definitely did it for me<3
I felt that some of the songs were sampled, like Summer Forever and In the Rain (did not figure out what songs were sampled tho and i might just be tripping). The beat at the background of In The Rain sounded a lot like the metronome in the in-ear monitors of performers, which i felt added an interesting layer to the song.
Highlights are definitely Headphones On, Aquamarine, and Diet Pepsi (forever my favorites) but loved the Lana Del Ray-esque sound of Summer Forever.
Overall, a 9/10 album (-1 for being just too short for my liking, 33 min runtime barely makes for an album imo)
truly some people have no genre savviness whatsoever. A girl came back from the dead the other day and fresh out of the grave she laughed and laughed and lay down on the grass nearby to watch the sky, dirt still under her nails. I asked her if she’s sad about anything and she asked me why she should be. I asked her if she’s perhaps worried she’s a shadow of who she used to be and she said that if she is a shadow she is a joyous one, and anyway whoever she was she is her, now, and that’s enough. I inquired about revenge, about unfinished business, about what had filled her with the incessant need to claw her way out from beneath but she just said she’s here to live. I told her about ghosts, about zombies, tried to explain to her how her options lie between horror and tragedy but she just said if those are the stories meant for her then she’ll make another one. I said “isn’t it terribly lonely how in your triumph over death nobody was here to greet you?” and she just looked at me funny and said “what do you mean? The whole world was here, waiting”. Some people, I tell you.
