Summer Love Spell cast in the Spring to attract a romantic Summer partner
Choose your ingredients intuitively. Work with what feels right to use. This can be adapted to whatâs available for you to use.
salt & sugar ~ I used white salt and white sugar fresh spring flowers ~ I used white bleeding hearts and pink rhododendron rose ~ dry or fresh. Just a few petals pressed flower petals ~ must be pressed and dry ahead of time. I donât know what I used but they were pretty, plentiful, and red/pink flower stem ~ from any of the flowers you chose. Small piece, just a few inches incense ~ I used a lavender incense cone. Anything good for a love spell love oil ~ any essential oil to anoint your incense. I used an Energy blend for an exciting Summer relationship. One drop bell ~ can do without, but recommended rose quartz ~ can do without, but recomended Top Trio crystal ~ I used black kyanite. Selenite or citrine is also great. Can do without, but recommended for any spell cauldron , or censer ~ MUST have. (A censer is something safe to burn incense on or in)
1. sprinkle salt/sugar in your cauldron or on your censer 2. put down rose petal(s) 3. anoint incense with a drop of oil and lay on top 4. heat your incense with fire as if you were going to light it. It should take longer than usual to light after being anointed with oil 5. lay it back down on the petal 6. set your cauldron/censer, rose quartz, bell, and top trio crystal in a triangle with the cauldron/censer inside the center. If you are missing any item, fill in the gap with another material appropriate for a love spell (maybe another flower) 7. ring the bell above the incense while focusing on your intent 8. set lighter or match to flower stalk. It doesnât need to catch fire but the flame must touch it. This symbolizes the minor pain you may feel at the close of the summer when the relationship must come to an end and your willingness to accept it. The stem itself represents a supportive relationship. Put it next to the incense 9. fully ignite the incense. Sprinkle your fresh flowers around it until it burns out 10. leave it to burn outside 11. halfway through burning, press one finger down on the incense just for a quick second to âprickâ your finger with the heat. This is where the heat and passion of the relationship will come from 12. when finished burning, collect all the contents of the cauldron (salt/sugar, ashes, and flowers) into a sachet. Include your dried flowers as well. Close it and keep sealed until the last day of summer. Must be discarded after effective use. If this summer the spell does not take effect, keep it until it does work
This does not need to be cast at someone in particular. It can be performed without a specific person in mind.
DIY Green Witch Portable Altar
If youâre like me, and like to bring your earthy witchcraft with you this is the DIY for you.
cost breakdown and materials:
âš Wood box - $2.99 from craft store (but most stores have coupons)
âš Stain - $4.99 (a small bottle will last you forever)
âš Moss - $5 from a craft store (Iâm sure you can fine it somewhere cheaper)
(side note: I donât recommend getting it from the ground. It can lead to mold/bugs/allergy issues)
âš Hot glueÂ
âš Acrylic Paint and brushes
Prep your box by sanding down any rough edges, removing any stickers, as well as making sure itâs dry and clean.
Stain your box. You can use a rag or brush to apply stain. Read the directions on your stain bottle, and wipe off extra stain. I love wood stain.
The latch has an eagle on it :)
After your stain is dry prep for the sky. You can prep with gesso or just white acrylic paint. This will make your colors pop more. I just dove in with painting, but if you want really crisp border lines use masking tape.
While waiting for the white to dry I hot glued in some moss. It takes the glue really well, but retains its fluffiness.
Add your night sky. To avoid having to paint tons of layers because your paint is transparent, ad a little white in. For the sky I mixed white, black, and blue, and left it a little unblended for a foggy feel.
Ad stars. I chose Cassiopeia, Polaris, and the Big Dipper. Use a tooth pic to get small dots.
Add in your items. I didnât have a tea candle so I made a temporary candle from a shell. I also added some jars for herbs and a couple of crystals.
Divination through Casting of Stones
A while ago I devised a simple divination method of casting stones on a board and interpreting where they fell. I ended up writing an entire ritual around this concept and performed it as a public ritual after teaching a class on the magical properties of crystals and stones. If Iâm going to be teaching class and running a ritual afterward I like to tie the ritual into the subject covered in the class, so people can apply what they learned.
I decided to divide a reading area into three sections, for the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of the Element of Earth, which would be marked with the colours associated with those aspects - green for physical, brown for mental, and black for spiritual. To really drive the Earth symbolism home I put the alchemical symbol for Earth on the centre of the reading board, and decided that if a stone fell inside that triangle then it had a stronger influence in the reading.
The three areas would break down as follows: Physical (green): The body, the home, physical concerns, structure, âreal lifeâ, wealth and finance Mental (brown): Control of thoughts, memory, discipline, patterns of thought Spiritual (black): Religious community, buildings, heirarchies, grounding, obedience and duty, moral and ethical issues, foundations
In order to make the board I went to Michaels and got the biggest wooden disc I could find, then carefully determined the centre and divided it into thirds which I painted with acrylic paint. I wanted the brightest colours possible, as Iâd be doing this by candlelight. Two coats did the trick. At some point I may varnish them.
I gathered some of my collection of stones and decided to go with tumbled ones to minimize any possible damage. I wanted a wide variety of possible meanings for each reading, so my choices on what stones to use was heavily reliant on the symbolism I attach to them. I went with the following:
First row: Clear quartz: Clarity, power, wisdom Carnelian: Fire, strength, physicality, the body Hematite: Grounding Second row: Lapis lazuli: Divinity, the Gods, the sky Moss agate: Friendship, growth, the Earth Fluorite: Peace, inner calm, structure, learning Third row: Abalone: Inner beauty, secrets, Water Tigerâs eye: The Sun, power, protection, strength Moonstone: The Goddess, motherhood, the Moon, the psyche, magic Fourth row: Malachite: The Earth, growth, love Rose quartz: Love, pace, acceptance Amethyst: Sleep, dreams, peace, magic, the psyche Fifth row: Labradorite: Dark Moon, hidden secrets, new perspectives Amber: The God, the Sun, strength, power, healing Jet: Earth, night, grounding, stopping negativity
A sample reading: Physical: We have lapis lazuli, malachite, and jet, although the jet is partly on the spiritual side as well. Note the carnelian rolled off the board and as such doesnât matter for this reading. The lapis is far from the centre, so has a weak influence here - the Gods and Their worship are not primary concerns for you right now as there are more important things going on. The malachite right on the Earth triangle tells us that growth is on the way, probably financial - the querent would have what they need to be fulfilled. As for the jet, its placement here implies that Earthy concerns are currently important to the querent, and itâs possible that they are feeling âin the darkâ.
Mental: Abalone, right on the Earth triangle. Thereâs a foundational part of your self and psyche that youâre not revealing to others because youâre afraid to do so.
Spiritual: Moss agate outside the triangle tells us that the querent is making spiritual connections, be that to Gods, Elementals, some form of spirit, or connections in a religious or spiritual community. These connections lead to growth, but not in a spectacular way. The borderline position of the jet between physical and spiritual shows that the querent is a little uncertain about the connections they may be forming.
Of course, the stones used could be different, or a different reader may have a different interpretation of each stone, but still, I found it to be a useful method of divination and others seemed to appreciate the readings.
This is amazingly cool and creative. Thank you for the info!
đ A Witchâs Book đ
there are a lot of different names for a witchâs personal book, which can define what type of book it is. a witch might have multiple books, or just one. however, you donât need to have one singular book for each topic, itâs perfectly acceptable to keep everything in one book.

Non Smokey Ways to Cleanse
We all know that you can cleanse with smoke cleansing, and insence but some people, those who have allergies or asthma should not be cleansing their spaces this way, so here are some different ways to cleanse your space!
Sunlight
Open up all the doors and windows in your home and let the sun wash away the negativity that has gathered in your home. If a gentle breeze passes through, let it!
The best days for this are Monday and Saturday, and would be best if you do it while the sunrises!
Moonlight
Like above, upon the doors and windows in your home and let the moonlight filter in.
The best times for this are during blue moons, or full, third quarter, waning, crescent or waning gibbous moons.
Sprays
Now sprays can be home-made or store bought.
Home-made should have sun water, any crystal, herbs, essential oils (use a carrier oil) and sigil that amplifies a cleansful intention. (Some crystals absolutely cannot go in water, be sure you have done your research before hand.)
If store bought, then scents like lemon, lavender, eucalyptus, bergamont, ylang ylang, sage (not white sage), frankincense, peppermint and chamomile.

Honey Lavender Bread
submitted by @materiamysticaâ
œ cup Greek yoghurt œ cup plain flour 1tsp baking powder Œ tsp salt 1 tbsp dried lavender 1 tbsp honey 1 egg, beaten
The intent is to increase mental clarity and connection. To clear your spiritual and mental brain fog so that you can think and see more clearly again. To improve clarity of vision and connection to your heartâs desire. Lavender is employed to stimulate clarity and connection, cleansing, memory, passion, peace of mind, healing, love, passion and retention. With the honey for added sweetness and stickiness to make visions all the more sweet, and memories stick more permanently. Harvesting your own lavender can also be intended to honour Lammas, too!
1. Mix everything in a bowl and preheat the oven at 350 F. 2. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead adding more flour until itâs no longer sticky and has formed a nice stretchy bread dough. 3. Put into a floured loaf tin. 4. Brush top with egg wash. 5. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes until a golden crust has formed and a skewer comes out clean. 6. Slice and enjoy!

Micromoon Magick đ
A Micromoon is the exact opposite of a Supermoon - a Micromoon occurs when the moon is at itâs farthest point from Earth, making it appear smaller than usual. Because of its distance from the Earth, the gravitational influence of the Micromoon is less than usual, leading to a smaller variation of high and low oceanic tides.
Because of itâs small size, the Micromoon corresponds to magickal workings that involve extreme focus. Its distance from Earth, on the other hand, insinuates that it will have less influence on things like our emotions and moods. With that being said, since your emotions wonât be at a heightened state, you can use this time to be more productive and clear your mind.Â
Intent Correspondences:
Reflecting
Cleansing
ProductivityÂ
FocusÂ
Time ManagementÂ
Aside from the things I just mentioned, the other correspondences for the Micromoon remain the same as a normal sized moon.Â

Why Your Spells Donât Work
You set your intention. You had all the correct correspondences. You even timed your spell with the appropriate moon phase. And yet â no results. What gives?Â
Failed spells happen to the best of us, and for a variety of reasons. But a spell gone wrong doesnât necessarily mean that magic isnât real or that youâre bad at witchcraft. Magic is complicated, and there are a lot of reasons it might not behave the way you want it to. Here are some of the most common causes of ineffective spells:Â
1. Lack of real-world follow through
Magic is meant to be used as a tool to supplement your mundane efforts â not as a substitute for them. How can you expect your job hunting spell to bring in results if you arenât applying for jobs?Â
Magic does not exist in a vacuum, and it canât make something out of nothing. If a spell doesnât bring you the desired result, make sure that your non-magical actions are aligned with what you are trying to manifest.Â
2. What youâre trying to manifest isnât a realistic possibility
Wait, what? Isnât magic supposed to be, well⊠magic? Shouldnât you be able to ask for whatever you want and get it? Yes and no.
Magic is simply a way of directing energy. Magic canât defy the natural laws of the universe. It canât make something happen unless it was already a potential possibility.
If your intention is unrealistic for where you are right now, try splitting it up into a multi-step process. No spell is going to make you a billionaire overnight, but magic could help you get hired at a better paying job⊠and then get promoted⊠and then get offered a profitable side gig⊠etc. Starting small and working your way up is always going to produce stronger results, because you laid the foundation first.
3. Your intention was either too vague or too specificÂ
Whether you use written petitions or spoken incantations, clearly stating your intention is an important part (maybe THE most important part) of any spell or ritual. A good intention is specific enough to get you the results you want, but open enough to let those results manifest naturally.
Letâs say you do a money spell, and your intention for the spell is simply, âI have more money.â If you find a penny on the ground the next day and pick it up, technically that is more money than you had before. A better alternative would be to use an intention like, âI have enough money to buy ___,â or âI have enough money for everything I need and want.â
Using an intention that is too specific creates the opposite problem. Letâs say you want to manifest a scholarship to a specific school. You do a candle spell with the intention, âI have been chosen for the John Smith Scholarship at Jane Doe University.â But maybe the John Smith scholarship had already been awarded by the time you did your spell. Maybe thereâs another scholarship at the same school that would be a better fit for you, or maybe youâre eligible for a grant that would make tuition more affordable. A better intention for your spell would be âI have enough financial aid to easily and affordably attend Jane Doe University.â
Magic always follows the path of least resistance, so you want to make sure that your intention is specific enough to give your magic a clear direction, but open enough to allow it some flexibility.Â
4. Lack of focus/concentration
We all know the struggle. Youâve been planning this ritual forever, and itâs finally the full moon, but youâve got a really full schedule today. If you hurry, you can probably squeeze it into the thirty minute window between school and work, right?Â
If you say a few quick words and burn some incense before you head out the door in the morning, that totally counts as a spell, right?Â
Not so much. Rushed, lazy, and/or half-assed spells rarely, if ever, work. Spells revolve around the raising and direction of energy, and that requires two things: a clear intention (see above) and intense focus on that intention. If you donât have the time/energy/mental capacity to focus, itâs best to take a break, have a self care day, and come back to your spell some other time.Â
5. Youâre subconsciously blocking your own results OR you did a spell for someone else who isnât open to it
I decided to lump these two together, because theyâre different variations of the same issue.Â
Whenever you are doing magic on yourself, itâs important that your mindset is aligned with your intentions. You can do love spells all day long, but if deep down you donât believe that youâre worthy of love, that belief is going to block your spells from working. This is why mindfulness, psychology, and self care are all such important parts of a successful witchcraft practice. Itâs also why I recommend doing the mental work before you sit down to ritual.Â
If you did a spell on yourself, or are trying to manifest something for yourself, and it just isnât working, I highly recommend setting some time aside for journaling and meditation and asking yourself 1.) if this is really what you want, and 2.) if you truly believe that you can have it.
The whole mindset thing gets even more tricky when youâre doing magic on behalf of another person, because their energy is also at work in the situation and could be at odds with yours. For example, if you do a spell to help a friend land a job, but that friend believes that theyâre totally underqualified and could never get it, they probably wonât get the job even if you did everything ârightâ in your spell.Â
This should go without saying, but it is extremely unethical to use magic to mess around in someone elseâs head. Even if you think you know whatâs best for them, they need to be open to it. If someone is blocking the spells you do on their behalf, all you can do is try to be supportive and find other ways to help them out.
Other (Rare) Reasons for Failed Spells
If a spell goes wrong, it will almost always be for one of the above reasons. But maybe you did everything ârightâ â you did the mental work first, had a strong, realistic intention, put lots of focus into your spell, and followed through in real life â and you still arenât seeing results. There are a couple of other things that could be blocking your spells, but theyâre very uncommon so Iâm not going to talk about them in as much detail. These may be things you want to look into if you really, genuinely canât think of any other cause.Â
Itâs possible that another witch has done magic that cancels out or blocks yours. This is not common, and it does NOT mean that someone has cursed you. It could be as simple as two witches unknowingly casting spells with opposite intentions, which end up cancelling each other out. (For example, maybe two different people both cast a spell to get the same job. Obviously, they canât both get that job.) This is why itâs never a bad idea to incorporate a protective element into your spells to block outside interference.
There is a very, very remote possibility that someone has placed a curse on you specifically to block your magic. However â and I cannot stress this enough â this is VERY uncommon. If you were cursed you would know it, or at least know that something was very wrong in your life. If you feel like you have been cursed or hexed, I recommend looking into uncrossing spells, which are specifically designed to undo negative magic.
Itâs also possible that a higher power is intervening. This doesnât necessarily have to be a deity, although it certainly could be. Most witches believe in some form of fate or destiny, and itâs possible that your spell didnât work because what you asked for is not in alignment with your destiny. In these situations, really the only thing you can do is surrender to the bigger picture.Â

âšđż Green Witchâs Comfort Spell Jar đČ
In a small jar with a cork top, layer:
Basil
Lemongrass or Lemon Balm
Rosemary
Tree Bark (I used White Oak)
Cinnamon
Fennel Seeds
Ginger Root
Mint
Pine Needles
Let it charge in the sun for an afternoon near your houseplants, in the garden, or even under a favorite tree in the woods. For an extra boost, charge it near a moss agate stone too! Later, seal it with green or white wax and recite:
âSupport me and guide me, Spirits of Nature. As a Green Witch, I thank you for your many blessings. I take a little piece of the Forest with me as I walk my path. Blessed be, and so mote it be.â đż
You can now take your little piece of the Forest inside your spell jar with you wherever you go as a reminder of your Green Witch oath and path. Itâs great to keep in your bag, purse, or travel altar! Blessed be, lovelies! đđż
Liminal Spaces in Witchcraft
First of all, what is a liminal space? A liminal space refers to a place or time that is in a period of transition between two phases. These are usually places where reality feels altered because you are neither moving forward or backward, like a rest stop. The word liminal originates from the Latin word limens, meaning threshold. These places often give off a sense that time stands still and that you are experiencing some sort of reality shift.Â
In magic and witchcraft these spaces are considered to be the boundary between our world and the other, it is known as âthe in-betweenâ. These places are considered areas of great magic because it is believed this is where the veil is thin. These places are great for divination, spirit work, meditation and astral travel; they are ideal for hedge witchcraft.
Times & Spaces of Liminality:
crossroads manmade or natural
river, creek or lake shores/ beaches
hallway/corridor/stairwells/landings/doorways
graveyards
dawn, dusk, afternoon, midnight
valleys
forest glades
many more!
Samhain/Halloween is considered the best time to communicate with spirits and faeries because of its liminality, it is a time of transition between autumn and winter. Irish folklore tells that this is the day faeries and ghosts come out to play because of the veil thinning. The equinoxes and sabbats like Beltane and Imbolc are also days of liminality because the time of day and night are equal (equinoxes) or it is a transition between seasons. Â
Mental states of liminality are also times of spirit communication. While being in a meditative state we are in a state of transition between our concious and sub-concious minds, this is where we sometimes experience astral projection or messages from spirits. People often experience spirit while falling asleep because this is another state of liminality.Â
In my craft I often practice in liminality in order to connect with the faerie realms.
