A very short comic I made for @muffinlanceâ âs âZuko getâs offered a job with Ba Sing Seâs lower ring law enforcement following his fight with Jet in the tea shop AUâ Original post about the idea can be found here.
Itâs a shame that Zuko spent about half of Book 2 working in customer service and we never got a chance to see how on heâd deal with That Customer⢠You know the one.
realized a little too late that I made a rookie mistake on the shot-reverse shot on page 3
Enjoy!
Can we just take a moment to talk about the adorably oversized bow Zuko just tied for his apron? That is some anime-magical-girl level of bow-mastery. I canât even.
Also the dialogue and expressions here are so perfect, especially Uncleâs quip about his nephewâs discretion. <3
Also also: *Uncle lets Zuko make that customerâs tea* *Zuko literally comes back with a cup of boiled water, sets it down so hard it sloshes* *that customer is super sad when Zuko quits, because no one else makes tea quite like him*
Zuko: âThe secret ingredient is complete distain.â
Interesting read!
Black Rednecks and White Liberals by Thomas Sowell
So I saw this post
And then I remembered this post
And so then I thought...
"It's just as I was telling Hamato-sensei. Supervision of conflicting personalities requires empathy and control, whether they're four adult detectives or four teenage sons."
"Four teenage sons... Hamato-sensei... As in Hamato Yoshi? You mean Master Splinter? Captain Holt, are you saying the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are real? You're saying the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are real!" đł
"I've said too much. We will never speak of this again."
Alyssa: I hope you have a good explanation for this.
Morpheus: I have three actually. Pick your favorite.

A clone trooper named Bruiser who insists itâs pronounced like Mandoâa (âItâs Bru-EE-sair! Emphasis on the i!â)
perfectly embodying the spirit of kt's mandoa here
The mandoa word for jedi is jetii. A yet unnamed shiny whose battalion is on the shore of some planet sees an impressive (if primitive) rock structure built going out from the beach. "Thats it," he says to one of his squad mates, "thats my name. I'm gonna name myself after that." The structure is a jetty. I dont know why this is funny to me
some mando comes across this dude named after his sworn nemesis and he's about to go ballistic
Mando'a Grammar Guide
I've written a grammar guide elaborated from Karen Traviss' guides, stuff from the canon lexicon, and a couple things I pulled out of my ass to fill in some gaps. Link in the notes so that this post should actually show up in tags/searches, hopefully?
actual question to mando fans: why in the world is the mandalorian adoption vow which is supposed to literally mean âI know your name as my childâ âni kyr'tayl gai sa'adâ? the âkyrâ prefix seems supremely out of place considering every other phrase/word with it relates to death, endings, etc (unless the vow is also trying to imply something about endings). thereâs a perfectly good word for âknowâ (karâtaylir) which imo makes way more sense since youâre supposed to be taking the child into your heart. this a mistake or deliberate?
I always assumed that it was a typo
So for those of you who are di'kute like me, here's a little Mando'a study.
I used to think shabuir was SHA buir (literally translating to "at parent") but now I get that it's SHAB buir (motherfucker). The mandoa.org says it means jerk.
so that means shab means fuck and shabla means fucking

K so I've been reading a bunch of fics, and a lot of authors use mando'a words for names of clones or even the child, and how in canon theres a mandalorian named skirata and skira translates to vengeance and well. It got me thinking.
What if Din's name is short for dinui?
Like, what if part of the founding process was a renaming, and the mando who named him chose him a new one and
Dinui translates as gift, andi just think that's really hecking adorable.
Anyway that's my new headcanon enjoy âĄ
So, I was thinking about Mandalorians and their leaders. As we know, marriage has some cultural significance with the concept of family and clan. Marriage isnât something to be taken lightly, especially since the vows are (in Basic)
âWe are one when together, we are one when parted, we will share all, we will raise warriors.â
I was writing (as I do, yâknow) and I was attempting to figure out some sort of cultural significance for the spouse of a clan leader or, for my current problem, a Mandâalor.
Would they be treated with the same respect as their spouse, or something else? My question is, do I refer to the spouse of a Mandâalor as âMandâalorâriduur (or something like that)â or something else?
A lot of fics use Ridâalor or some form of Riduur + alor
So I love reading your stories, like a lot a lot, but you use different language that they say, like Tup'ika and ner alod'a (spelling?). I was wondering where you keep getting these words?
YOUâVE MADE MY DAY.
I am a lover of the clone trope that they use Mandoâa sparingly in their day-to-day
Ner alorâad - my Captain (a personal favoriteâ¨)
-ika, on the other hand is a Mandoâa suffix. Technically, it means small/little, but in an affectionate way. However, if you tack it onto cyare (beloved) you turn it into cyarâika (sweetheart/darling) which Iâm sure youâve seen around. So itâs an endearment term, putting onto the end of Tupâs name made it literally âlittle Tupâ but could also be read as âsweet Tupâ
I know we used to tack -ika onto vod (brother singular) to translate it to little brother, but I think it was @thatfunkyopossum who pointed out the difference between -ika (affectionately little) and the Mandoâa prefix kih- (also meaning small), and which to use in relevance to âlittle brotherâ considering the canon Mandoâa grammar that gave us the term oriâvod (big brother).
Anyways! I get all my Mandoâa from the online Mandoâa dictionary and also Wookiepedia. Iâll add links to both later!!! Thank you so much for this ask and giving me a chance to nerd out!
oh dear lord please donât let the people fixing my iPad speak mandoâa. please donât let them figure out I called my iPad shuâshuk âbig disasterâ to match my phone which I named kih dikut âlittle idiotâ that would be so embarrassing yet so funny if they knew đđđ
Bo-Katan: ur a disgrace to your armor :/ also you arnt even a mandolorian ur just a clone.
Boba Fett, the og actual fucking Mand'alor: dont talk shit about my buir

Hello! I have no idea where to go for Mando'a translations, so if it's no trouble could you tell me what "fur ball" would be in Mando'a?
Hi!! Unfortunately I've got NO clue, I'm not fluent, BUT!!! The blog @mandowords has a ton of stuff, as well as a spreadsheet full of Mando'a translations/grammar/etc!! đđđ
an average man tends to be average looking as well,
until you add "do" at the end.
because then he becomes an average mando
and every mando,
even an average one,
is hot as fuck.
