I waited until midnight to light my fall colored candles at my altar in celebration of Lammas. I let them burn for 7 minutes to represent the seven months of the year that have gone by and as I blew them out, I thanked Apollo (he’s the God I worship AND he’s associated with the sun) for providing sunlight for these plants to grow. I thanked him for the opportunity of this harvest and quietly mourned of the long daylight hours. After my mourning, I thanked him again and welcomed Hecate (the Goddess I worship who is associated with the moon and necromancy). I took a moment to thank her acknowledge how she will begin to take over by allowing the plants to die and extending the hours of the night. Blessed Lammas/Lughnasad!
